IDDSI Projects and Initiatives on the go
|

Stamp Project: With the success of implementation of IDDSI, we now have a growing number of companies who wish to demonstrate that they meet the IDDSI Framework requirements (e.g. products and services). Whilst we have made the Framework and testing methods freely available to all, IDDSI appreciates that there is value in having an independent group review products and services that companies feel are in agreement with the IDDSI Framework. To this end, IDDSI has commenced work on the ‘IDDSI Stamp Project’. We are in the process of developing a framework and process for companies to submit material about their products/services for formal review. This will be a fee-based service with clear instructions and supporting material. We look forward to sharing progress of the IDDSI Stamp Project in our e-bites. This project will be led by former Co-Chair, Dr Julie Cichero who will work closely with the IDDSI CEO and Chair Peter Lam, and the IDDSI Board.

Resources renewal project: Many of you have visited our Resources page where you will find many different resources that have been developed over the past 10 years to support IDDSI implementation. 2024 is the year that we will be reviewing, streamlining and renewing our documents to reflect the current and ongoing needs of our global community. Our plan is to approach this in a systematic and gradual way that will help streamline the resources. Keep reading our ebites and checking out our website for updates on this exciting project.

Session Description: The IDDSI initiative commenced in 2012 culminating in the publication of the IDDSI Framework in 2017, updated in 2019 to include Level 7 Easy to Chew. The decade since the introduction of IDDSI has seen widespread professional, geographic and cultural adoption. IDDSI provides a common language through standardised terminology and importantly testing methods that is facilitating new avenues of growth in the dysphagia field. IDDSI has accelerated research into food texture, chewing and choking risk and enabled new conversations about classification of the thickness of liquid medication. This presentation will examine IDDSI’s global impact.
