Video of the Month
|
Are you looking for ways to teach essential skills to your students in primary grade levels while also increasing the leadership skills of your students in intermediate grade levels?
The
Tech Buddies: Building Technology Skills Through Peer Teaching video by
Edutopia shows the learning that can be seen from both sides when older students are paired up with younger students to teach them skills.
At
John Barry Elementary School in
Meriden, CT, the Grade 5 students teach the Grade 1 students how to use the technology available for use in the classroom and school. This project is not solely focused on academic outcomes, as there are numerous social and emotional benefits as well.

PE 9-12 Fitness for Life: An Inquiry in Healthy Living
Story from Salmo Secondary School
Salmo Secondary School set out to help improve the fitness levels and the physical health and well-being of their Grade 9-12 students. After conducting a survey with students, they found that many of them expressed a disinterest in traditional PE classes. To combat this, the school looked at a personalized healthy living and fitness program run in collaboration with the Salmo RDCK Community Complex to engage students in their own physical health and fitness, and to help them to achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle.
