Legal Update For HR Professionals
California's New Mandated Retirement Plan
By:
Dan Van Bogaert, J.D.
California has enacted legislation to provide a new type of state run retirement savings program, which would invest in Individual Retirement Accounts for non-government workers. Although effective January 1, 2017, the program will not be operational until about 2018 because design details are still being finalized.

SHRM Certification and MITs
SAHRA will be including in each monthly e-newsletter to our members, information on SHRM certification and Members in Transition
opportunities
. Our chapter will also be holding informational sessions on SHRM certification throughout this year and including information on how to join SHRM as a member in Transition during our MIT informational meetings. Stay tuned!
In this ever-changing business world, the knowledge that HR professionals need is constantly evolving. HR teams are required to assume a greater leadership role, contributing to the strategic direction of their organizations. The evolving challenges in human resources can yield tremendous opportunities to those with
the right training and credentials.
Also...Did you know? SHRM offers a onetime complimentary/free membership for HR professionals in transition. If you are an MIT with SAHRA or looking to join our HR family in the Sacramento region, you can also join a national (and international) network of HR professionals by contacting SHRM's Member Care team via phone at 800.283.7476 (U.S. only) or via email at
http://forms.shrm.org/forms/contact-us
This is a great opportunity for people in between jobs, looking for a new career in HR and/or in other transition-related milestones in life. Membership in both associations will enhance career, professional network opportunities and increase HR-related resources available to you.
