New Year, New Goals

It can be difficult to set aside time for planning and scheduling amid all the challenges and duties within the childcare setting. This time of year, almost everyone can stand to do some organizing in some area of their lives. Whether that includes a major New Year's resolution, or smaller goals like organizing your desk drawer, keeping a tidier classroom or getting some additional training, now is a great time to help make your life easier and less stressful. The process of planning and setting new goals provides an important opportunity to reflect on where you are, and where you want to be. Effective planning and time management skills will help you leave work at the end of the day on time, in control, and satisfied with a job well done!

A key component of any successful childcare provider (or business person) is time management. Effective time management is all about understanding what you need to accomplish in order to succeed. Once you reach that understanding, you can organize the details of your life and get control of your to-do list. It's all about "planning the work and working the plan." Good time management allows you to organize daily, weekly, and monthly tasks in a way that puts you in control of your to-do list. Without planning and time management, you probably won't enjoy your job or find much satisfaction in it. These steps are crucial for providing high-quality care as well as achieving a successful work-life balance .

Every aspect of your teaching will be shaped by the role you want to play in the mentor-ship and development of your students. Every nuts-and-bolts teaching strategy, even the most practical advice serves the goal of helping you become the kind of teacher who has inspired you. Long after individual facts and phrases are forgotten, your students will carry with them the intellectual skills you help them develop, from critical to creative thinking. Great teachers prepare students for lifelong learning.

Maura Hanly
New Hope, PA

Congratulations to Maura for successfully completing the CCEI Infant-Toddler Certificate Program of Study!

Maura began her career in early childhood by helping take care of her many cousins, and began attending technical school during her last two years of high school to gain additional childcare knowledge. She loves playing and talking to the infants in her care, and enjoys the one-on-one time while feeding them their bottles. The children in Maura's care enjoy their time most when the caregivers are smiling, singing, and laughing with the infants on a regular basis.

Maura is motivated by interacting with babies who depend on her to meet their nurturing needs.
In her spare time, Maura enjoys spending time with her niece and nephew, and cheering them on as they compete in various sporting events. In the future, she plans to continue working with babies, and helping them begin their developmental journey through life. Mauara recommends CCEI to everyone and says, "I have found the CCEI program to be very thorough and comprehensive.  I was very pleased with my Student Services Manager.  She answered all my questions and concerns very quickly and she was most encouraging."

Congratulations, Maura! CCEI is proud to call you a graduate!
