Celebrating 2023 Ministry at Settle - This Week, a Look at Faith Promise Missions

This January, we are taking time to celebrate and praise God for how He has worked through our congregation and our ministries here at Settle Memorial! This week, read an update from Alecia Meyer, office administrator, about how our church's faith promise giving has shared Jesus with those in our community, state, country, & world.

Please keep Settle's 2024 ministry opportunities in prayer as we enter this New Year. We strive to love God and to love our neighbors!

Best Wishes to Heather Kirkconnell

Settle Memorial would like to thank Heather Kirkconnell for her service to Settle Memorial UMC over the last several years as our organist. Heather's last day at Settle is this Sunday, Jan. 28. Music ministry has always been such an important part of this church, and we are blessed to have an organ and piano that are in use. We wish Heather and her family the best on all of their adventures in the future!

Mark Your Calendars for Work Days at Camp Loucon

Settle Memorial UMC has had a longstanding relationship with Camp Loucon. This church has supported the camp financially, volunteered, and has sent many summer campers there over the years. Today, the camp has many needs, and we are committed to helping with some of those. As a church, we will be heading to Camp Loucon on both Feb. 17 and April 20 to work on several projects. I hope you would commit to one of these. There will more details as we get closer to each of these dates.

We will focus on two areas of camp that are closely connected with Settle UMC. We will work on several foot trails at camp. These trails have been affected by numerous storms over the past years and need to be cleaned up. We also will be working on the Settle Village. This cabin area has been a project for Settle over many years. We will be doing work on the cabins and surrounding area.

The work to be done on both projects can be done by all of us. You don’t have to have certain skills to help. Just come with heart to serve. Please join me in prayer for Camp Loucon and consider serving on one of these upcoming dates.

God bless,

Pastor Mark

Mission Committee Update

It is with excitement and thanksgiving that we are able to announce that all the funds have been raised to sponsor a room for Empowerment Academy. Not only was the $15,000 raised for the room sponsorship, but our congregation exceeded that amount by $1,829.71 to be used for additional expenses where needed. The Mission Committee would like to thank all who donated and participated in various fundraisers to meet this goal. A big shout out to the Open Door Sunday School Class for having the fifth Sunday breakfast as a fundraiser and looking forward to more of those in the future!

Shut-In Valentines

If you are looking for a warm, indoor activity to bless others this winter, consider sending Valentines to Settle's shut-ins! You can buy the cards, make them, or have your kids or grandkids color a picture. These individuals always enjoy hearing from our congregation, so please consider sharing God's love in this way!
