April Showers…Bring Two Events In One Week Apparently

The staff loves it when we host two events in one week (insert eyeroll here) but that is what we have coming up next month. On April 16th we will host our now semi-annual Coastal Bank & Trust (CB&T) Jacksonville Onslow Sports Hall of Fame ceremony followed on the 20th by our annual Marine Chevy Freedom Fight boxing event. It will actually be a fun week!

The CB&T Sports Hall of Fame will be held at the Sturgeon City Environmental Center on Tuesday, April 16 with a cocktail and silent auction hour from 5:00-6:00pm and the event beginning at 6:00pm. We will be inducting the classes of 2023 and 2024 (a class is selected each year but the ceremony is held on even years). The class of 2023 is Amanda Duffy, Stephanie Rose, and the 1978 & 1979 White Oak High School Baseball Teams. The class of 2024 is Jack Brown, Jr. and Tony Marshburn. Tickets for this event (a meal is included) are on sale now at https://runsignup.com/TicketEvent/CoastalBankTrustSportsHallofFame. Come out and support these great people. Ticket cutoff will be Friday, April 12. Along with CB&T, Marine Chevy and Golden Corral are great supporters of this event.

Then on Saturday, April 20 at the Commons Recreation Center, we will have two sessions of exciting USA Boxing sanctioned amateur boxing (from kids up through Masters divisions) at our Marine Chevy Freedom Fight VII. One ticket gets you into both sessions! The first session will be at 2:00pm and the second at 7:00pm. We anticipate approximately 15 bouts per session. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or at the following link in advance: https://runsignup.com/TicketEvent/FreedomFightBoxing2024. This event is in conjunction with the All-Marine Boxing Alumni and they will also hold their dinner and reunion that weekend. Along with Marine Chevy, SIA Group and MainStay Suites help us make this event possible.

We hope you will support both of these events if at all possible, so don’t wait, get your tickets today.

Frogman 3D Bowhunters Challenge & 5K

Presented by SIA Group

June 1, 2024

About Frogman:  Frogman was created by The Campbell Family in 2012 to honor the wish of their beloved SOC (SEAL) Christopher Campbell. Chris lost his life during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, in which he and 30 others Americans were riding, was shot down on August 6, 2011. The event honors his final wish to support combat wounded veterans, his love for hunting, especially bow hunting, and the outdoors.

By supporting Frogman, you ensure that Chris’ wish carries on and that he and his teammates are never forgotten!

Proceeds from the event will benefit Hope for the Warriors, North Carolina National Wild Turkey Federation (NCNWTF) Outreach Programs, and the Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission (JOSC).

5K Trail Run - A wooded trail run through the property known as the “400-acres.” The trail is predominantly flat and should be fun for all. This is a new course, never run before, created especially for Frogman. Medals awarded to the top-overall male and female, top-overall male and female masters, and first place in each age division. Everyone crossing the finish line receives a finisher medal.

Virtual 5K: Can’t make the event in person but want to support, this is the option for you.
