On May 20, Jackson Health Foundation hosted its annual Golden Angels Recognition Dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach. The celebration dinner honored Golden Angel Society members, and highlighted the tremendous impact their generosity has made. The Foundation hosted more than 150 donors and welcomed 40 new Golden Angels – more than half of whom were new donors.
The dinner’s program celebrated Jackson’s incredible progress over the years, made possible by the attendees' generosity. Expansion work is underway to build a best-in-class emergency room at Jackson Memorial Hospital, which is set to be the largest in the nation. In addition, Holtz Children’s Hospital will have a renovated emergency room. These revolutionary projects will transform the way emergency care is delivered at Jackson.
The highest honor of the night, the Rainmaker Award, was presented to Ana VeigaMilton for her remarkable impact and dedicated efforts, including her support for frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

From May 6 through May 10, Jackson celebrated nursing teams for their outstanding service and commitment to patient care. During this special week, we honored the more than 5,800 nurses and additional nursing support staff who work tirelessly across the health system to bring the most compassionate and competent care to our patients’ bedsides.
The celebrations included special appearances by beloved mascots, Billy the Marlin and Sebastian the Ibis, who joined us in acknowledging our nursing teams’ remarkable contributions.

The Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to Peter Romero of Blanca Commercial Real Estate and TeamFootWorks for their continued support of Holtz Children’s Hospital through the Waterford 5K run. Since 2017, their generosity has been instrumental in helping Jackson give children a second chance at life.
The most recent 5K was held on Friday, Nov. 2, 2023, with a percentage of the proceeds going to Holtz Children’s as the official event beneficiary. On April 22, Holtz Children’s was awarded a $20,000 donation.

On July 12, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava held a ceremony to formally unveil the UHealth | Jackson Station, which was previously known as the Civic Center Metrorail Station. This first-of-its-kind marketing partnership between Jackson and UHealth – University of Miami Health System aims to promote greater access to the hub where local healthcare providers are developing and delivering cutting-edge patient care through state-of-the-art health technologies and applications. | |
Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Memorial and Holtz Children’s Hospital Recognized Among Nation’s Best | |
We're thrilled to share that Lynn Rehabilitation Center has been ranked 31st in U.S. News & World Report's 2024-2025 Best Hospitals for Rehabilitation list, climbing 14 spots from last year. Additionally, Holtz Children’s Hospital is ranked 45th for children’s diabetes and endocrinology care. These accomplishments are a testament to the incredible support we receive from our community. Heroic Recovery: City of Miami Police Motorman Overcomes Life-Threatening Accident with Life-Saving Care from Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson South | |
For Miami native Ruamen DeLaRua, serving his community is a lifelong passion. However, on September 9, 2023, his life changed dramatically when a motorcycle accident left him critically injured. Rushed to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson South, he underwent emergency surgery before being transferred to Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Memorial for intensive therapy. Over the following months, DeLaRua's determination, along with the support of his family and therapists, helped him achieve remarkable recovery milestones. Now walking independently, he credits the dedicated teams at Jackson South and Lynn Rehabilitation Center for saving his life and treating him like family.
