ABOUT THE ARTIST

Rosie Race is an emerging artist who graduated from Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2019.

As Associate, she is in partnership with Theatre Royal Plymouth to develop and produce her first Arts Council Supported full length show ‘Us Against The World.’

Using highly-visual metaphor, movement and sharp text she draws the audience into the experience of a seemingly perfect relationship which rapidly unfolds into something altogether chaotic and dangerous.

Rosie is also Associate Artist of Theatre Alibi and Documental Theatre and was selected to develop her new play ‘Filthy Animal’ with Soho Theatre Writers Lab 2022-2023. Rosie is an Associate Lecturer at University of Plymouth and Arts University Bournemouth where she is developing a new movement methodology for Actors.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Us Against The World

Ever been love-struck?

We have.

And it hurt.

This is about what happens behind closed doors when you love a little too much.

It is about the slippery slope between care and abuse, the colossal strength it takes to break free and the potential danger in doing so.

Us Against The World is an absurd and often funny reminder that the greatest betrayal is forgetting yourself.

Expect a riot of intoxicating dance-theatre, a very charming man, a much-loved chicken and a bit too much cake in this poetic portrayal of love gone wrong.

(Based on the lived-experience of domestic abuse survivors).

To Apply: Please send a CV, examples of previous work, and a cover letter (no more than 1 A4 side) detailing your suitability as per the person specification above to naomiturnerproducer@gmail.com by the deadline. We are happy to receive this in whichever format works best for you, so we can accept voice recordings or a short video if preferred. Please let us know if you would like to receive or submit information in a way that better suits your access needs.

Please also fill out our equal opps form.

We are committed to equal opportunities for everyone and actively encourage people with different backgrounds to join us and positively impact our team and working practice. We are particularly keen to receive applications from freelancers who identify as female or non-binary due to the themes of the project; it is important that the diversity of our recruitment for this role is intersectional and we also particularly keen to receive applications from underrepresented and Global Majority groups, D/deaf and disabled people, or those experiencing barriers due to their socioeconomic background.

If this sounds like a project you’d like to get involved in, and you feel you have the experience and other qualities we’re looking for, then we’d love to hear from you.

If you would like to submit an Access Rider alongside your application, we would be more than happy to accept it and to work alongside you to ensure that your experience with us is as accessible to you as possible.

Interviews for the role will occur on Sunday 12th November 2023 (provisional date). If you cannot make this date, please let us know when you submit your application.

Deadline: Sunday 22nd October, midnight.
