ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rosie Race is an emerging artist who graduated from Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2019.
As Associate, she is in partnership with Theatre Royal Plymouth to develop and produce her first Arts Council Supported full length show ‘Us Against The World.’
In her poetic, darkly comic and absurd cross-disciplinary style, Rosie explores the difficult subject of psychological domestic abuse. Using highly-visual metaphor, movement and sharp text she draws the audience into the experience of a seemingly perfect relationship which rapidly unfolds into something altogether chaotic and dangerous.
Rosie is also Associate Artist of Theatre Alibi and Documental Theatre and was selected to develop her new play ‘Filthy Animal’ with Soho Theatre Writers Lab 2022-2023. Rosie is an Associate Lecturer at University of Plymouth and Arts University Bournemouth where she is developing a new movement methodology for Actors.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Us Against The World
Ever been love-struck?
We have.
And it hurt.
This is about what happens behind closed doors when you love a little too much.
It is about the slippery slope between care and abuse, the colossal strength it takes to break free and the potential danger in doing so.
Us Against The World is an absurd and often funny reminder that the greatest betrayal is forgetting yourself.
Expect a riot of intoxicating dance-theatre, a very charming man, a much-loved chicken and a bit too much cake in this poetic portrayal of love gone wrong.
(Based on the lived-experience of domestic abuse survivors).
