| Dear SNIS Member, JNIS has just been issued a new Impact Factor as calculated by Thomson-Reuters. Our new Impact Factor is 3.551. This is approximately a 20% increase over our previous impact factor of 2.959.
While impact factor and citations are not the only measures of a journal's success, they are certainly two metrics which contribute to a journal's evaluation. The increase in both of these metrics is related to greater awareness of JNIS and a greater assessment of importance of articles published in JNIS by the scientific community.
Several groups deserve kudos for the improvement in these metrics. First, credit should be given to the authors of manuscripts. Our increase in impact factor is directly related to the scientific rigor and importance of these manuscripts. Second, credit should be given to our reviewers whose comments serve as a springboard for manuscript improvement. Third, credit should go to my amazing team of associate editors (Michael Chen, Christophe Cognard, Lucas Elijovich, David Fiorella, Matt Gounis, Josh Hirsch, William Mack, and J Mocco) who tirelessly triage submitted manuscripts in search of the best and the brightest. Lastly, credit should be given to our publishing partner, BMJ, who has done a fantastic job of managing the journal and increasing its global awareness.
Thanks to all of you for your support of our journal and I offer a toast to the continued progress and success of JNIS.
