FROM THE DIRECTORS
Happy Birthday to the Trees!
This month we celebrate the Jewish holiday of
Tu B’shevat
.
Tu B’shevat’s
name is Hebrew for the 15th of the month of Sh'vat, and it is considered the “birthday” of all fruit trees. While the date originated as an important time for Jewish farmers in ancient times, it has become a celebration of the produce of the land of Israel. It is also a time to think about the values of environmentalism.
At camp, nature is a huge focus of the work that we do. We want our campers to have a love and appreciation for the world around them, to love being outdoors and to feel comfortable exploring their surroundings. We also teach campers to take care of their camp, as repairing the world (
tikkun olam
) is one of our most important camp values.
Happy Tu B’shevat! Only 132 days until Camp!

LEADERSHIP TEAM CHANGES
We are excited to welcome three returning camp staff to new roles on our Leadership Team!
STACY CLARK
is a long-time member of the JCC Camps at Medford family and grew up at camp. Last summer, Stacy served as the Assistant Director of Camp Aaron. This summer, we are thrilled to welcome Stacy to the role of
FOOD SERVICE DIRECTOR.
Stacy is a classically trained chef and graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in San Francisco, and she spent over six years in K-12 food service with a focus on providing less processed food and more scratch cooking. Stacy lives in Marlton with her husband and two daughters who both attend camp.
SUSAN STURTZ
has been a part of the JCC Camps at Medford staff family for many years as our Bayit division head (for campers entering 1st grade) and we are happy to announce Susan will now be the
CAMP HILLTOP ASSISTANT DIRECTOR.
She is very excited to take on this new role and will be working with our Camp Hilltop specialists, planning special events, and working as a team with our Camp Hilltop Director. Susan is a preschool teacher at Temple Beth Sholom in Cherry Hill and she lives with her family in Marlton.
ALEXA ZIMMERMAN
has been working at the JCC Camps at Medford since 2016 as the Camp Aaron Theater Specialist. This summer will be Alexa’s favorite because she will still be directing the Camp Aaron show, but will also be eagerly taking on her new role as
CAMP AARON ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
. Between summer seasons, Alexa is a music teacher, choral director, and wedding vocalist with EBE Entertainment.
