FROM OUR AUDIENCE
The Art of Reuven Rubin (Part 1)
I love the "Hamsin," the hot winds that blow from the desert and make the world a blur of color. Just Beautiful!
Amazing that Rubin came from a family of 13 children and that he got to travel and study in so many countries at such a young age.
I saw a mural depicting all of Israel by Rubin at a synagogue in Jerusalem next door to the King David Hotel. It was in the women's balcony. I was there for a service on Shabbat.
When you look at his work you can almost feel the material rather than the paint.
I must confess that I was unfamiliar wirh Rubin. His work is wonderful.
Jewish-American Photographers
[Paul] Strand not only attended the Ethical Cultural School, he was also a teacher there. (Audience member who was a student at the Ethical Cultural School)
Life must have been pretty terrible overseas for so many people to immigrate to the United States. I imagine that it was hard to find jobs and learn a new language.
I had no idea that photography could be used for so many different things. I think it is interesting what the Artist chooses to focus on in the pictures
