This weekend, it's all about the moms. If you need any help with a gift, Lori at CYC has something, and they will gift-wrap it!! Remember to get your reservation in for Brunch, I'm sure it will be busy. I'm still praying for good weather this weekend. This past Saturday was a great day. The Run For The Roses horse race had to be the closest in history, right along with the NASCAR Race on Sunday. Kyle Larson won by .001 seconds.
The Boat Sales Department will have a boat show this weekend. Talk about a great Mother's Day gift. You could also parlay that into a Father's Day gift, and make it a win win for everyone! There is no better way to start the summer than a new boat.
The new menus went over well this past weekend, along with Mexican Monday. It's back and better than ever! Wednesdays are now Cajun Cuisine. We are in full swing summer hours of operation along with the Cabana opening this weekend.
Wishing all the mothers a Happy Mother's Day. I hope to see you at the lake.

Hello Grand Lakers,
Our annual Mother's Day Brunch is upon us this weekend. We will be having our celebratory Mother's Day buffet in the Cobalt Ballroom on Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm; the menu for the buffet includes a wonderful array of different salads, deviled eggs, shrimp cocktails, and more. It will also be filled with several entrees that range from Orange Pepper Chicken with Quinoa to Beef Tips with Mushroom and Parmesan Risotto. Not to mention our array of sweet treats and fresh fruit. We have reservations left to fill, so reach out to Sheena or myself to serve your table.
Our Pool and Cabana Bar open up this week for you to enjoy. We will open up the Cabana Bar from 11 am until 10 pm this Friday. The hours of operation of the Cabana Bar will be Fri – Sun, 11 am to 10 pm.
Craft Cocktail of the Week: Blueberry Clover Club—This craft cocktail consists of fresh blueberries, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and Gray Whale Gin, which is shaken together until it has a velvety texture.
We appreciate everyone who came out to Sharky's opening for the Season to see Mrs Cookson and her crew. An even bigger thank you to everyone who participated in the Poker Run Event that benefitted the Ketchum Schools.
VIP Pizza Specialty Pizza of the Week: Sicilian Pizza – Genoa Salami, Spicy Italian Sausage, Green Olives, Banana Peppers, Onion, and Bell Peppers on our delicious crust with marinara and mozzarella cheese.
I would like to employ an open "email/call" policy to hear what you would like to see at the clubs. So feel free to call, email, or text me about any events, menu changes, or general needs you would want from the clubs. You can reach me at 512-284-5825 and brandon.rascoe@arrowheadok.com.

Your Summer Starts Here! Right Here at Arrowhead Boat Sales in Grove! Not at Reasors, Walmart, or Academy! Here! It all starts with a new, or new to you boat. Change it up. More seating, maybe a smoother ride. Maybe a bigger boat. Maybe a smaller boat. Maybe a boat with a warranty so you’re not stressed about any repairs. Whatever it is, your summer starts here. School is almost out, and the weather is warm now. Give Mom that extra special Mother’s Day present by letting her pick out a new boat. Or we can surprise her by placing it on your dock! What a fun weekend we had. We had an amazing turnout for the poker run. We raised the money we needed to help the kids of Ketchum. I want to thank our sponsors Harris Tritoon’s, Cobalt Boats, Tow Boat US, Pryor Chevrolet, Classic Auto Group, Jennifer and JJ Bauman, Steve Rhoades, and Rusty Banks, as well as the 125 people who played. I also want to give a big shout-out to the pirates who dressed up for the contest at Sharky’s. This is the 84th year celebrating at Grand Lake. Let’s get all our toys ready. Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner. If you need anything, please reach out. Cell 918-691-8823. Most of all, have a grand day .

DOCKING LIGHTS
In collaboration with GRDA and the Arrowhead Service Department, we would like to remind everyone that Docking lights are NOT Headlights. They can blind other boaters and restrict their ability to see your navigation lights, putting everyone at risk of a dangerous situation.

We had an amazing opening weekend for May! The poker run traffic was phenomenal and the excitement for all things lake was definitely in the air with beautiful temperatures and partly cloudy skies. This weekend is going to be even better and the clouds won't be crying. That means you get in the boat and enjoy the lake days and sun rays! Stop in for cold beer, soda, water, and a lot of snacks! We have begun the plans for being able to provide Grab-n-Go food options from our CYC satellite market. It's going to be finger-licking good and so, so easy! That should kick off before Memorial Day weekend. As for our ability to pump gas, we're still working on the repair job for those gas lines, but each day is one more day closer to completion! You realize that hardships are how true champions are crafted and seriously, our ship store employees believe that our energy and persistence will pay off. See you on the docks!

I finally got to meet the newest member of the posse last week at The Snags Little League baseball game. Jovi Rumple is the daughter of Zack and Brandi Rumple, Brennan's little sister.

Last week we got an evening boat ride in and took about 3 minutes of that trip to sling a D22 crank bait. It turns out Tom McKibben is right; the Sandies are biting everywhere.
Second cast and this spunky white bass was in the boat. Every boat is a fishin boat!

It’s the most beautiful time of year on Beaver Lake. Those of us brave enough to take the plunge will be greeted with almost-bearable surface temperatures above 70 degrees! New boats are being delivered to happy customers and on the better weather days the area is very enjoyable. Service has ramped up to summerize boats, the sales team is on the water and in the store showing off our incredible inventory, and I’m nearly sold out of our most popular surf boards in the pro shop. I am now here in the pro shop Tuesday-Saturday, 8-5. Look for the new tubes and floaties on outdoor display on your way to the lake!

SPORTS ROUNDUP
🏇150TH KENTUCKY DERBY
The 150th Kentucky Derby lived up to the monumental achievement of the occasion. The Pomp & Circumstance pageantry and swagger were all there before the race was on full display. Everyone was there, including Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce! The race itself was the closest finish since 1947. A three-way nose photo finish between Mystic Dan, Sierra Leone, and Forever Young took longer to determine the official winner than the race itself. Exciting would hardly explain. Mystic Dan has now officially declared for the Preakness on May 18th We are all waiting to see if the Preakness will make the Belmont a Triple Crown race or not. Sure hope so.
The 149th Preakness Stakes will take place on Saturday, May 18th, at approximately 5:50 pm. We will be doing the same Oyster Roast. On the Half, Baked, and Rockefeller!

🏀OKLAHOMA CITY VS DALLAS
The Thunder are ahead 1-0 and will be playing their second game of the second round best of 7 series in OKC tonight at 8:30 pm. Let’s go, Thunder!
🏁NASCAR THIS WEEK WILL BE IN LAS VEGAS
Last week’s race in K.C. was also a side-by-side photo finish between Kyle Larson and Chris Buescher. Larson was declared the winner by 0.001 seconds. Man, that is close! Denny Hamlin leads the point race, with William Byron in second place. Oklahoman Christopher Bell is in sixth place. This week, the race will be in Las Vegas.

THE FIRST MONDAY & WEDNESDAY NIGHT OF THE SEASON STARTED THIS WEEK
Monday night has a Mexican theme and an all-new ala carte menu. Wednesday night is Cajun-themed and has an all-new menu. This Friday, the CYC Cabana will open weekends for the season. The pool water temperature is 73°, and alligators will be released at Mother's request!
The opening of the second-floor buffet on Friday and Saturday nights has been delayed until May 17th. The Commodore's Lounge and wine cellar still look to be open Memorial Weekend.
Sharky's Bar opened last weekend. Cedar Port had a very successful Poker run that was enthusiastically attended. A fundraiser to pay off the students' school lunch program was a total success. Thanks to all the participants!

💐MOTHER'S DAY BUFFET SUNDAY, MAY 12TH
Please remember this sacred day to honor the most special person in all of our lives. She has done so much to shape and guide all of our lives. Let’s give her a day of what she cherishes most. Spending time with her family and not planning, cooking, and cleaning up after us. We have a scrumptious meal planned in her honor for Sunday, May 12th, from 10 am to 3 pm. Check out the menu, and be sure to make a reservation. This is a Guaranteed Members event—24-hour cancelation policy.

🎆🎇DUCK CREEK FIREWORKS JULY 4TH 2024
This is the fundraising kick-off for the Duck Creek Fireworks—the Biggest weekend of the year for Grand Lake. Our budget is $160,000.00. Once again, we are partnering with Tunnel 2 Towers by donating 10% of our total donations to this foundation. We are celebrating and dedicating this year’s show to the memory of Toby Keith. His death was a terrible loss to millions of patriotic fans, the military, and proud Americans! He has three songs on the fireworks soundtrack. This event, which has taken place every year since the end of the Second World War, was orchestrated for many years by W. W. (Bill) Bailey. Local attorney from Vinita, Oklahoma. World War II Marine Veteran and hero. Who survived 6 first wave landing in the South Pacific. A former Commodore of the Cherokee Yacht Club who fought for and loved this country and was Damn Proud and not ashamed to praise the USA and its veterans and pass him another Charter and water! He held the fireworks together and led them down to actually lighting off the shells personally. Fireworks T-shirts are now available at the Arrowhead Ships Store, Cherokee Ship Store, CYC Boutique, Cedar Port, and Hammerhead Ship Store. Let’s Stand Up! And salute America!
Spark Plug dinner for those who donate $750 or more is Friday night, June 21st. That’s not far off! Your gallant and enthusiastic support year after year is incredible. We will also be having an Air Show this year by the War Birds organization. There will not be a practice day. The only day we will shut down the creek will be Thursday, July 4th.
Thank you in advance for your help in honoring America and her veterans, who made America the Home of the Free because of the BRAVE!
The SUN is rising over Duck Creek. No cars, no traffic, and the ONLY thing we overlook is the LAKE! And it is Grand, Beaver, Grove, and Oklahoma City.
JOE

A mother is the first best friend of her child. This Sunday is Mother’s Day - a day to feel appreciative of your mother, whether you are able to be with her or are missing her right now.
You know you’re a mom when you see four pieces of pie and there are five people - and you promptly declare that you’re not hungry. You know you’re a mom when you master the art of putting food on a plate without anything touching. You know you’re a mom when you hear your own mother’s voice coming out of your mouth when you say “When I was your age…”. And, you say at least once a day, “I’m not cut out for this job” - but you know you wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Sometimes moms come disguised as friends. I have some wonderful friends who have “mothered” me during some difficult times. Having lost my own mother 33 years ago, I appreciate them stepping in to lend me their shoulder, give advice, and love me unconditionally. And, to those of you who have lost your moms during the past year, please know that you are very special and are wished a good day full of happy memories.
Mother’s Day gives us the opportunity to express gratitude to all moms, grandmoms, stepmoms, foster moms, mother figures, moms-to-be, women mentors, the fathers who act as both mother and father, and the friends who “mother” us. Take the time to send a handwritten note to express that gratitude. Reading a note of appreciation can inspire, motivate, and even provide strength to that special person in your life.
Enjoy your week!

LETA REED
Leta Reed grew up in Owasso, Oklahoma, but moved to Ft. Gibson Lake during High School. Her parents are Gary and Roberta Taylor and Ramonda Baldwin. She states that a fun fact about them is that her dad worked for Arrowhead in the 1980s, and Roberta worked in the accounting department for a few years after her dad retired, and they moved to Grand Lake.
Leta has worked for Arrowhead Investment & Development Company for eight years. She began her career in the boat sales office and has advanced to different positions over the years, including Hammerhead Office Manager, Cherokee Yacht Club Dining Manager, Executive Administrative Assistant, and Marketing Director. Leta wears many hats of responsibilities and states that there are several things she loves about her job. One is that she enjoys being able to interact with the club members and assist them when needed. She also loves being involved with coordinating and planning the different events sponsored by CYC and Arrowhead Boat Sales.
Leta has a son, Taylor Reed, who is 20 years old and is finishing up his last year at Neosho County Community College. Taylor will return to work for Arrowhead Boat Sales & Marina this summer for his sixth year. Leta's daughter, Jordan Reed, is 16 years old and is a Sophomore at Ketchum High School. Jordan has been working for Cherokee Yacht Club for two years. They have three cats named Shadow, Little Baby, and Ollie. She also states that she recently adopted a Dandoodle named Olive. Leta loves spending time with her children and going on adventures to find new hiking trails around Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri. As a dedicated mother, Leta states that she is trying to find new hobbies and interests on her own as she realizes she will become an empty nester in just two short years.
Thank you, Leta Reed, for the fantastic eight years you have been loyal and hardworking at continuing to improve the service and experience of every member and guest. We know that the next few years may be met with apprehension as your life shifts a gear from the steadfast devotion to your children, but your beautiful spirit of fun and tenacity will guide you to even greater success!
