MR. DRAHEIM:

Dear MHS Families!

Seasons Greetings from Marinette High School!  Hard to believe we’re at Christmas Break week!

I have a few reminders below that we will be discussing with students the first weeks of school.

First, we want to make sure that all students are staying current with their school work and getting assignments in on time.  Please check your student’s Canvas or Skyward for current grades as we get closer to the end of first semester. Our first semester will be finished on Friday, January 12th.  Students will be off school on Monday, January 15 for a Professional Development day so second semester will start the next day.  Most students will have brand new schedules for second semester so please check Skyward to see that.  We also want to remind you and all students to use our Anchor Hour as a time to get caught up or go in for extra help. As we get closer to cold and flu season and the possibility of students being out sick it’s important to get in those habits early.

Second, I wanted to remind all parents/guardians to please help us by monitoring your student’s attendance and making sure they come to school every day, unless they are sick.  Checking a couple times a week is a great way to stay current with them in Canvas and/or Skyward.  If you need any help with this or log-in information, please call our High School Office for support.  We will be reinstituting our positive attendance initiative like we did last school year.  Those students who have perfect attendance will be recognized with food and prizes, including a Golden Ticket prize!  The only excused absences we will be recognizing for this will be for a school event.  For the month of October we had 42 students with perfect attendance and they received pizza for lunch.  In November we had 93 students and all of them enjoyed donuts during their lunch.  This month in December we ended with 103 students who qualified!  All of those students enjoyed a Christmas movie, Elf, in the auditorium.  They have done a great job getting here and we are very proud of them.

Finally, if you have a student who drives to school, please remind them they need to register for a parking permit every year and that they should lock their vehicle when it’s here.  When they fill out the form and get signatures, they will be issued a new parking pass.  I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Christmas Break and everyone can recharge, have fun, and enjoy the time off.

Go Marines!
