CONGRATS SUMMER LEARNERS!

This month, we had the distinct pleasure of awarding three children with a $1,000 education scholarship for participating in the Summer Learning Challenge. Teens and adults also won prizes for participating. Thank you to the rest of our summer learners for reading and learning with us this summer!

Our annual Summer Learning Challenge is a proven way to combat Summer Slide and inspire a love of reading in children. Numerous studies have shown that summer programs at libraries help ensure that school children retain reading and learning skills over the break. We can't wait until summer 2025! The program and many Library events throughout the year are generously funded by Friends of the Redwood City Library.

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION

Each pub will have a poster featuring two banned books, with Foundation representatives there to answer questions.

  • The number of titles targeted for censorship at public libraries increased by 92% in 2023.
