LET'S PLAY BALL!

OPENING DAY IS HERE!

It's here! Opening Day is Saturday (8/24) for most 7U Coach-Pitch and older softball & baseball leagues. Tee-Ball opens on September 4th.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND - due to the brevity of the season, games are scheduled for Saturday, August 31st. If necessary, make-up games will be scheduled Sunday, September 1. There will be NO games scheduled on Monday, September 2.

League standings are also posted after scores are reported each night. You can find them conveniently posted on the WYBSL website as well.

WEATHER UPDATES

The league uses a Weather Hotline (614-523-6220) and Twitter/X (@WYBSLalerts) for game scheduling updates. Updates are posted at 4PM on weeknights, 8AM on Saturdays and 11AM on Sundays.

Please know that sometimes schedules must be changed due to reasons other than weather and we recommend you check for updates before every game.

MAKE-UP GAMES

When necessary, make-up games are scheduled on Sundays (1p and later) and Mondays. Make-up game schedules are updated to the team calendars on Fridays.

The make-up week is Saturday thru Thursday. For example, a Thursday rain-out will be made up 3-4 days later on Sunday/Monday. A Saturday rain-out will be made-up 8-9 days later on the following Sunday/Monday. Although schedules will be finalized each week, you should plan on playing with this cadence.

AED "PILOT" PROGRAM

Thanks to a grant from our partners at OhioHealth Sports Medicine, the WYBSL will be installing life-saving AED's at Huber Village and Towers Parks. There will be one device stored in each concession trailer and will be accessible during game nights. These units are very self-supporting and easy to use.

In the event of an emergency:

  1. Dial 911
  2. If necessary, retrieve the AED device from concessions
  3. Open AED and follow the voice/display instructions.

You can learn more about these devices on this link.

COACHES CORNER

This season, we are asking all coaches to maximize playing time for all athletes by getting more complete games.

One way to do this is reducing the time it takes the defensive team to "take the field" after a 3rd out. It is highly recommended that coaches establish what position each player will play each inning BEFORE THE GAME BEGINS.

A combined batting order and defense rotation sheet can be posted in the dug-out. Coaches need to teach players to read the sheet and be ready to run to their position as soon as the third out is made! This is a great tool for a "bench coach" to use and can speed up games significantly!

(Parents - this is why coaches ask for timely updates on player availability in advance of game day!!)

PARKING SAFETY AND COURTESY

When parking at City parks, please remember to be safe and always obey traffic & parking laws. And please, respect neighbors who live by them by using sidewalks and dedicated paths to and from the fields.

Huber Village Park - please refrain from parking along the east-side of the drive (closest to the fields). Parking on both sides of the road will not allow emergency vehicle access.

Towers Park - stay within the marked "turf parking (A)," use the Spring Road lot (B) or street parking reflected below. Also, parking restrictions are posted on some city streets.
