Greetings!

The construction has started at Kindred Spirits.

Friday we got a new septic tank.  Had you asked me earlier in my life if I would describe that moment as exciting, I would have thought you were nuts.

But on Friday, I watched out the window as they lowered the new septic tank and cheered quietly to myself, giving our clinic cat Frankie a high-five.

Earlier in the week, the uncertainty around the weather and difficulty coordinating the subcontractors had cost me $6.50 to the swear jar. I know there will be some temporary inconveniences as we go forward, but I am keeping my eye on the prize...and Friday the prize was a gravity-fed septic.

Now, to make sure that I don't make this next 4 months a diary of construction, I am making a plan for the emails to be informational. I want to give you all my best information on the following subjects over the next few months:

--Veterinary Nutrition: What do I need to know to choose a good food for my pet?

--Inappropriate Urination in Cats

--Vaccinations: Do I need to have my pet vaccinated?

--Lyme Disease--New Information

I am taking ideas for other topics. You send me an idea, and if enough people are interested, I'll tell you what I think about it.  Keep it to veterinary medicine though.

Don't even get me started on the state of the world, middle east peace or the power of the media in our society.

I will post this email on our Facebook, and I invite you all to offer up topics for discussion.

Also, this past week we put up the Kindred Spirits Christmas Tree. For those of you who are new to the practice, each year we invite those who have lost pets over the past year to honor their friends by making an ornament to hang on the tree. I love this tradition...although it always makes me tearful.

This year those of you who bring ornaments please be careful of the construction...and note that we are open, as usual, for business during the entire construction project. Weather permitting, we expect to be done by April 2013.

Changes abound, but know that we will always be Kindred Spirits.  For the past few years we have slowed growth by closing to new clients or taking new clients by referral only.  For the first time since the first year of practice, this year we will be opening to new clients...For the next few months only Dr Miller will be taking new clients, but after our construction we all can handle more clients comfortably.

Spread the word.

..and you can tell your friends that if they come to Kindred Spirits, not only will they get exceptional care for their pets and understanding of the human/pet relationship. But they can use our facilities any time they want...not only do we have committed team that understands compassionate care, but we also have a 1500 gallon septic tank.

WooHoo

Mark
