The American Pakistan Foundation, in partnership with the Woodrow Wilson Center, invites you to join a two part discussion to 1. explore the underpinnings of Pakistan's emerging economy, and its human capital and 2. how the Pakistani-American community can organize to be an effective voice in public discourse and actively participate in every facet of American life to its fullest potential.

Dr. Ishrat Husain , one of Pakistan's most distinguished economists, is currently serving as a Wilson Center Public Policy Fellow.  Dr. Husain was Dean and Director of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Karachi-the oldest graduate business school in Pakistan. He is currently Professor Emeritus at IBA and Chairman at the Center for Excellence in Islamic Finance.  He previously served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Pakistan and spent two decades with the World Bank.
Abdul Jabbar Memon is the Consul General of Pakistan at Los Angeles. As a 23+ year member of the Pakistan Foreign Service, he served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director General in Afghanistan and Europe. He has also served at Pakistani Missions abroad including in Spain, Egypt, and South Africa. He holds a Master of International Relations degree and attended diplomatic courses in the Netherlands, Spain, and Italy.
Najeeb Ghauri is the Founder, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and CEO of NetSol Technologies, a U.S. corporation with $65 million in annual revenue, 1,800 employees, including 1,500 programmers and engineers in Pakistan, and over 300 customers globally.  NetSol provides business services and enterprise application solutions to private and public sector organizations worldwide.  Mr. Ghauri previously held leadership positions at Fortune 500 companies including Unilever and ARCO.
Fiza Shah is the Founder & CEO of Developments in Literacy (DIL), a nonprofit organization that empowers underprivileged students, especially girls, by operating student-centered model schools and providing high-quality professional development to teachers and principals across Pakistan. Under her leadership, the organization has successfully provided quality education to tens of thousands of children and equipped them with academic competencies and life skills that have brought an increased measure of empowerment to their daily lives. 
Waqar Khan is the Producer, Director, and Anchor of Safeer-e Pakistan on GEO TV, the first community television program to highlight the struggles and achievements of Pakistani Americans, with a focus on "rags to riches" success stories, which airs nationwide in the U.S. and Canada.  He also serves as the Chairman and Founder of the Pakistan American Chamber of Commerce, and the Founder of the Pakistan American CEO Forum and the Pakistan American Sheriff Advisory Council.
Ahmed Ali is the CEO and President of Geo-Etka, a geotechnical and environmental consulting firm in Southern California and one of the oldest firms in Orange County.  He serves on the Board of Directors of The Los Angeles World Affairs Council, the Los Angeles County Sheriff South Asian Advisory Committee, the Muslim American Homeland Security Congress, and The Department of Homeland Security Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties.
Dr. M. Razaq is the Executive Vice President of Analytical Industries and the President of eMax-2000, two California based manufacturing companies.  As a philanthropist, Dr. Razaq supports the SKM Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Sebha Trust, Developments in Literacy, and The Citizens Foundation. Dr. Razaq holds an MS degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Islamabad and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southampton.
Mayor Ali Sajjad Taj became the first Pakistani-American Mayor of Artesia, California in December of 2016, after serving on the Artesia City Council for more than three years.  Mayor Taj has 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, having served in the leadership positions of District Manager, Regional Manager, Managing Principal, and Vice President with multinational firms such as American Express, Ameriprise Financial, Weddell & Reed, and T.D. Ameritrade.
David J. Ranz is the Acting Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan at the U.S. Department of State and a member of the Senior Foreign Service. A career diplomat since 1992 focused on the Arab world, Mr. Ranz previously served as ChargĂ© d'Affaires, a.i., Acting Deputy Chief of Mission, and Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. He has also served in Baghdad, Iraq; Rabat, Morocco; Jerusalem; and Karachi, Pakistan.
Michael Kugelman is Deputy Director with the Woodrow Wilson Center's Asia Program. He is also Senior Associate for South Asia at the Wilson Center, where he is responsible for research, programming, and publications on the region. His main specialty is Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan and U.S. relations with each of them. His work has been published in Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal, among other outlets.
Kalsoom Lakhani is the Founder/CEO of Invest2Innovate (i2i), which operates in Pakistan. Kalsoom has trained young entrepreneurs, changemakers, and civil society leaders around the world and has spoken at the World Economic Forum, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, U.S. State Department, and the Global Entrepreneurship Summit. She has served as a D.C. Co-Ambassador for Sandbox (the Thousand Network), a global network of innovators under 30.
Masood Malik (moderator) is a board member of the American Pakistan Foundation .  His international development focus over 30 years has centered on policy and strategic planning, energy sector reform, institution building, and economic/energy development. He has advised USAID, the World Bank, and Asian development programs in South Asia and beyond.  His work includes a strategy and project portfolio of water and energy projects in Pakistan.
