Message from the CEO

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new CEO of the Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce. I am excited to be working with all of you to continue to build a strong business community.

First off, I want to take a moment to reflect on all the amazing work that’s been done to date by previous leadership and staff. Specifically, I want to acknowledge my predecessor Bill Collette for 10 years of passionate commitment to the Alberni Valley and putting us on the map! Thank you for your leadership and I am grateful to Bill for a smooth transition into this role.

Over the coming months, I will be working closely with the Board of Directors and staff to implement our strategic plan that will enhance our value to our members. We will be focusing on key areas such as advocacy, service delivery, and networking, and we will be seeking your input and feedback along the way.

I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this organization, and I look forward to working with all of you to make the Chamber of Commerce an even stronger and more effective advocate for our local business community.

Sincerely,

Jolleen Dick

Tourism Week in BC

This week-long celebration of tourism takes place across Canada from April 24-30, and is an annual invitation for all tourism partners to come together to champion and promote Canada’s destinations, tourism businesses, and employees – from coast to coast to coast.

Tourism experienced the most severe impact of COVID-19 compared to other primary resource

industries. However, in 2021, tourism’s recovery rate began to climb, increasing +22.8% over 2020 in BC.

Tourism opportunities exist in every corner of BC, supporting both urban and rural communities. The industry plays a positive role in preserving, sharing, and celebrating our culture and heritage. Join us in celebrating Tourism Week 2023, and let's continue to make BC a thriving destination! #BCTourismCounts #BCTourismWeek

BC Chamber News

Every year, the BC Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) conducts its Collective Perspective survey, B.C.’s most comprehensive economic snapshot that identifies the issues that matter most to businesses across the province. The data collected informs the policy and advocacy efforts of the BCCC and its provincial network of 100 chambers of commerce and boards of trade.

This year, the BCCC, in partnership with its members, is excited to host its inaugural Regional Roadshow, a series of five virtual events, where the 2022 Collective Perspective data will be shared with business leaders and community members in each of the seven economic regions in B.C.

Chaired by President and CEO, Fiona Famulak, each virtual event will include a presentation of the story behind the provincial and regional data and provide an opportunity for members to engage directly with guest speaker and research specialist, Mario Canseco, President, Research Co. and Columnist for Business in Vancouver.
