Mpox Sensitization

On Monday, August 26th 2024 a team from the Ministry of Health, led by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sharon Belmar-George, met with the SLHTA membership for a sensitization on Mpox.

Included in the detailed presentation was:

-Surveillance, Case Investigation, Contact tracing

-Recommendations: Surveillance, Case Management, Infection control & prevention practices

-Protocols for the Surveillance and Management of Mpox at the ports of entry

CHTA Releases Comprehensive Construction and Investment Benchmarking Report

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has released its highly anticipated Construction and Investment Benchmarking Report, offering invaluable insights into the region’s thriving hospitality and tourism sector. The report provides detailed profiles of 27 Caribbean destinations, analyzing key performance indicators such as occupancy rates, average daily rates, and tourism’s contribution to GDP and employment.

SLTA participates in CAPA Airline Leadership Summit

(SLTA)- The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority proudly participated in the CAPA Airline Leadership Summit, which focused on Latin America and the Caribbean, held from August 22-23 in Trinidad. Representing Saint Lucia were Mario Reyes, Chairman of the Airlift Committee, and Christopher Gustave, Marketing Manager for the Caribbean Region, Events, and Sports.

Latin America and the Caribbean are recognized as some of the world's fastest-growing aviation regions. However, this growth is increasingly concentrated in inter-continental and domestic markets. The summit highlighted the challenges posed by varying regulatory standards, competition approaches, and aviation policies within the region.

The conference provided a platform to discuss strategies to improve regional connectivity amidst these diverse approaches and governmental shifts. The insights gained will be vital in fostering more cohesive and efficient aviation development across Latin America and the Caribbean.
