Introducing Steven Keith

As we shared with you in our last newsletter, our longtime friend and endorsing agent for Liberty Baptist Fellowship, Charlie Davidson went to be with the Lord. We know that you have shared our grief and ask that you continue to pray for his wife Roydene, their daughters, sons-in law and grandchildren.

Charlie faithfully served as an endorsing agent for LBF for many years. He will be sorely missed. The old adage is true: what you do is replaceable but who you are is irreplaceable.

On that note, we would like to introduce the person who will pick up Charlie’s work and move LBF forward. Many of you already know him as he worked with Charlie and has been leading at Liberty for some time now – Dr. Steven Keith.

Dr. Keith serves as Director of the Center for Chaplaincy at Liberty University. In this capacity, he orchestrates the Center’s mission of educating and equipping over 900 chaplain students to be Champions for Christ in secular and sacred environments. Additionally, Dr. Keith serves as the Professor of Chaplaincy in the School of Divinity. He serves as a chaplain for Operation Heal Our Patriots, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse for our military veterans.
Doing Life with Pastors
Philip Lehman, Catalyst of the Local Center in Atlanta, Georgia - East, encourages pastors to use Local Center gatherings to connect and share with other pastors. Create a safe environment where pastors can open their hearts to one another. Life in ministry does not have to be lonely.

Making Disciples with Other Pastors
Andrew Hart, Catalyst of the Local Center in Albany, New York, shares his experience in starting a Local Center. He recognized this calling to start a Local Center as an extension of his calling to make disciples. He also realized that this was not something he had to do alone.

Watch for the Power of Interruption
Matt Willmington, Catalyst of the Local Center in Lynchburg, Virginia reminds leaders to listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit during Local Center gatherings. Sometimes, God takes us in a different direction than what we had planned. These moments can be times of thoughtful sharing and deep encouragement. Watch for the power of interruption.

The Vulnerability of the Western Church

Neil Cole examines the state of the Western Church and the challenges it faces. Specifically, what would happen if the following benefits were revoked: parsonage allowance, property tax exemptions and tax deductions for contributions. Neil challenges church leaders to be more aware of such vulnerabilities and to shift toward a more long-lasting form of church.

New to 5ive - Disciple-Making

Todd Wilson introduces a new disciple-making resource, New to 5ive by Ralph Moore and Jeff Christopherson.

What would it look like if churches were as intentional in making Biblical disciples as they were in making converts? Wilson encourages churches to prioritize multiplication as the fruit of healthy, Biblical disciple-making.

Local Center Meetings in June
For a detailed list of all upcoming events at Local Centers, visit our website. Local Centers are hubs where LCN members can be coached, networked, and resourced on how to become better disciple-making churches.
It is also the place where LCN members network to plant local churches and invite other churches to be a part of the LCN family.
