Seymour Public Library, 46 Church St, Seymour, CT, 06483

The Seymour Library welcomes again the producer and host of the podcast "Amazing Tales From Off and On Connecticut's Beaten Path" Mike Allen. Mr. Allen produces weekly programs on people, places, and events from Connecticut history. His 120+ episodes can be found at his website www.amazingtalesct.com.

His current talk tonight will be Mike's own hometown of Danbury during the American Revolution. It was 1777, early in the Revolutionary War, and an easily accomplished weekend military mission into inland Connecticut was supposed to be a seminal military victory for the British in their attempts to put down the Patriot uprising. The objective was to march from Long Island Sound to Danbury and remove it as a key supply center for the Patriots. It was the first time the British had marched to do battle during the war.

It didn't work out as exactly planned.

For more information about this free program please call the Library at 203-888-3903. Registration is not needed for this program.

Wednesday - June 12 The Oxford Lions will meet at Jackson Cove under The Pavilion that was built and donated to the Town by the Oxford Lions. The Lions meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 6pm. Want to be an Oxford Lion and help our Town? Please RSVP if you'd like to attend

Saturday & Sunday JUNE 15 & 16 I grew up in Monroe and loved going to this festival. Music, food, art/crafts and a generally good vibe for everyone.

SUNDAY JUNE 16 -ALL DAY. - FATHER'S DAY.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads, past, present and future.

My Dad passed a decade ago and was from 'The Greatest Generation'. He wasn't my 'best friend' didn't try to be 'cool' or offer life advise. Rather the way he showed me how to be a man, was through his actions. He worked in his own business every day (even 1/2 day on Saturdays) , made quiet sacrifices for his family, honored the relationship with his wife (Mom). Worked differences out with people of opposing view, loved being around younger people, kept a youthful attitude, but remembers with deep gratitude how 'he made it' Coming from a poor Italian immigrant family, 8 kids in a 4 room house, using coats as blankets, no oil for the lights. Never bitter about his youth, never complained, and loved America, me, my sister and his wife til the day he left us. Thank you Dad.

AT THE GRANGE - It's summer, kick back and join us for our Open Mic. Snacks and refreshments available, or bring your dinner. All ages BYOB

BIRDS, BEES, BUTTERFLIES, AND BATS

TUES. 6/18 from 6PM—7PM

We can thank pollinators for the fruits and   veggies that we eat. Pollinators are integral to our ecosystems. We will talk about their role in plant reproduction, why they need to be protected, the threats they face, and how people can help them in this presentation. OXFORD LIBRARY
