Instituto was Awarded the 2024 Community Impact Grant!

This month, Instituto was awarded PayPal's 2024 Community Impact Grant alongside Hope Chicago! We were incredibly honored to receive this award during our visit to the Chicago office on PayPal Impact Day. This was the first PayPal Impact Day in which staff came together to pack kits from local small businesses for us to distribute to the communities we serve. We cannot thank PayPal and their entire team enough for their support and such an inspiring day. ✨

Instituto Celebrates the Largest Immigration Policy Victory Since the Implementation of DACA!

President & CEO of Instituto del Progreso Latino, Karina Ayala-Bermejo, was honored to join business leaders, advocates, faith leaders, labor, and elected officials to share remarks and applaud the biggest immigration policy victory since the implementation of DACA! President Biden's recent announcement would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our immigrant community, business leaders, advocates, faith leaders, labor, and elected officials.

We continue to call on Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform and create pathways to citizenship for the millions of disenfranchised, hardworking people in Chicago and across the nation.

Instituto Celebrated Immigrant Heritage Month!

Since June 2014, Immigrant Heritage Month has celebrated America's diverse heritage. Instituto staff and family met with Deputy Mayor Beatriz Ponce de León and others to continue this tradition today. This luncheon showcased the vibrant immigrant communities that contribute to Chicago’s dynamism. It was an honor to be included in this event. We cannot thank Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson & the Office of Immigrant Rights & Refugees enough for your continued support of Instituto.

Support for Recent Migrant Family Arrivals Continues!

Recently, Instituto del Progreso Latino had the honor of hosting and participating in a dynamic panel discussion. The event featured stories of our long-term work in welcoming newcomers and our ongoing efforts to support long-term undocumented residents and migrant families. We explored how we strive to create a community where everyone can find the support and opportunities they need to build a better future.

Thank you to all who attended and contributed to this vital conversation. Together, we are making a difference!

GET INVOLVED!

In September of 2022, Instituto responded to the influx of Recent arrivals to Chicago by launching Project AMOR (Asylum Migrant Outreach Response). In conjunction with the City of Chicago, Instituto created an Amazon Wishlist to mobilize donation efforts for this new population. Since the launch of the Wishlist, over $365,000 in essential items such as clothes, toiletries, diapers, and hygiene products, have been purchased by generous donors to help aid migrants. Instituto has also directly assisted over 7,800 asylum seekers by helping them obtain essential items as well as providing them with legal aid and financial literacy direction.

With a surge of new arrivals that began in May of 2023, Instituto del Progreso Latino began accepting physical donations of new and unused clothes and other essential items to its buildings. Additionally, over 900 community members have signed up to volunteer and assist with Instituto's Project AMOR efforts.

Your generous, tax-deductible gift will directly support Instituto's efforts to assist the recent influx of migrants to Chicago.
