Among the 1,500 attendees, Northshore business and elected officials were well represented for the installation of Susan Bonnett Bourgeois as GNO, Inc. 2023 Chairman of the Board last Friday. The theme of the luncheon was GNO United: Ten Parishes One Region. Bourgeois has served as CEO of the Northshore Community Foundation for more than 15 years and on the board of GNO Inc for 12 years. The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program is now accepting applications for the Summer 2023 Cohort beginning in May. Feb 1 is the deadline to apply. This program is free for small business owners that are ready to grow and scale their businesses. Sixty-seven percent of program graduates report revenue growth after 6 months of completing the program with 44% reporting creating new jobs to support their growth. Learn more here.
Townsend Underhill will take over as Stirling Properties president and CEO from Marty Mayer upon his retirement later this year. The Small Business Council is meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, January 18 at 8:30 AM, and the Ambassadors Council is meeting this Thursday, January 19 at 8:30 AM with an orientation for new ambassadors.
The Northshore Young Professionals held their first 2023 committee meeting last week, introducing incoming Co-Chairs Elizabeth Lee with St. Tammany Corporation and Matthew Guidry with NOLA Media Group; they lead the 129 (and growing) NYP members. The Committee completed an outline of the events, trainings, philanthropic partnerships, and pop-ups for the first half of 2023.
Our business-after-hours event at Slidell Memorial Hospital Regional Cancer Center enabled Chamber members and guests to not only network but also learn firsthand about the cutting-edge technology available in the fight against cancer. It was an opportunity to learn about the Center’s new linear accelerator (LINAC), which customizes high energy x-rays or electrons to conform to a tumor's shape and destroy cancer cells while sparing surrounding normal tissue.
