According to the CDC, Domestic violence is recognized as a significant public health concern affecting 1 in 4 women, 1 in 10 men and 1-12 teens. Shockingly each year 1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence in the home.
October is designated as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and during this month SPIRITT Family Services, has organized and co-hosted numerous community events including, SPIRITT'S Candlelight Vigil, The City of El Monte Purple with a Purpose Walk, and the City of South El Monte Love Shouldn't Hurt Event, aimed at spreading knowledge, advocacy and support to victims and survivors of domestic violence.
Additionally SPIRITT Family Services provides domestic violence case management services, counseling, support groups, and parenting classes to those experiencing intimate partner violence. 65% of our families identified as having current or past intimate partner violence.
