NEW SMALL BUSINESS GRANT OPPORTUNITIES!
Restaurant Operator Relief Grant
DoorDash, in partnership with the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association (VRLTA) recently announced a new $450,000 grant program for Virginia restaurants. Grants are available for $3,500 and the application is open until March 1, 2021. See details and eligibility requirements.
Shuttered Venue Operators Grant
The Shuttered Venue Operators (SVO) Grant program was established by the Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act. The program includes $15 billion in grants to shuttered venues, to be administered by the SBA.

Isle of Wight Company Selected to Participate in Virginia Leaders in Export Trade Program (VALET)

American K-9 Interdiction, LLC (AK9I), a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small business in Isle of Wight County, is one of ten companies recently selected to participate in the Virginia Leaders in Export Trade Program (VALET).
 
The two-year VALET program, led by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, assists companies in the Commonwealth that are committed to international exporting as a growth strategy.
 
The program provides participating companies with export planning services and assistance from a team of experienced international service providers to help meet the companies’ international business goals. These private sector service providers contribute essential expertise to assist companies in executing export plans and include attorneys, web designers, bankers, translators, accountants, and freight forwarders.
 
AK9I was founded in 2001 and produces and trains superior working dogs for government, law enforcement and private entities. The company specializes in training canines and handlers for policing/patrol assignments, narcotics detection, explosives detection on and off leash, tracking/trailing and specialty disciplines.

TAKE THE COUNTY'S SURVEY ON AGING

A community survey for the County’s Study on Aging is underway!

The survey is available through Monday, March 1, 2021. The results will be tabulated, summarized, and posted on the County’s website in March 2021. County staff and the Board’s appointed Study on Aging task force will use the feedback from the survey to develop new policy recommendations and action strategies to include in the Plan. The draft policies and action strategies will be made available for public review at a later date.
