ORGANICS COLLECTION TIP OF THE WEEK
|
|
As the weather gets cold, the organics in your tote can freeze making it difficult to service. Here are some tips to make sure your bin gets emptied.
- Keep the bin in your garage, shed, or another slightly warmer area overnight to prevent freezing.
- Line your tote with cardboard or newspaper before putting organics in it.
- Unstick the lid of the tote when you set it out – it might be frozen.
- Keep liquids out of your organics tote.

Oceanfront Construction Update - Winter 2022
The foreshore construction will provide erosion protection, habitat enhancement and native marsh planting species and public trail access. The foreshore and site design consider future coastal flood scenarios related to sea-level rise. This will be the first section of the oceanfront perimeter trail and will connect to the existing DOS trail network. The design has been approved by the District of Squamish and has all the necessary provincial and federal permits in place.
Heavy machinery will be working in this area and construction is anticipated to take us through the new year and into the spring. Public safety is a priority, and we ask everyone to respect the trail closure along the Cattermole Slough through this time.
