SLOWING THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 OVER THE HOLIDAYS
|
|
The holidays are traditionally a time for us to gather with family and friends near and far. With COVID-19 cases on the rise again, it’s important to keep our gatherings small in line with the current public health order. Look out for those who may need some extra support and comfort as the holidays can be tough at the best of times. We need to remember to take special care of our mental health and the mental health of those around us. If you or a loved one needs help, please visit the B.C Government backgrounder for resources on mental health support available this holiday season here.

SNOW CLEARING EFFORTS IN SQUAMISH
|
|
Our unique weather patterns of heavy snow followed by rain makes for challenging snow conditions in Squamish. We would like to thank everyone for their patience while our crews work 24/7 to clear the snow and widen the roads (widening out) for catch basins. We understand that this process can be frustrating for residents, especially those who have worked hard to clear their driveways, as driveways may get filled in again. Snow clearing crews do their best to remove windrows (piles of snow left at the bottom of a driveway) but it’s not always possible.
As new snow falls, our snow-clearing crew focuses on keeping priority routes open. Once crews have successfully plowed and sanded/salted these routes, the remaining work on residential routes begins.
How you can help:
- Clear the snow from the sidewalks in front of your properties and salt if possible.
- Shovel snow out of the catch basin in front of your house to prevent flooding.
- Do not park on the street if possible.
- Place garbage and recycling totes on your driveway instead of the road (the arms of the garbage truck extend 12 feet!).
