Leadership Team honors work of Maintenance of Way

On Wednesday, Aug. 28, General Manager and CEO Debra A. Johnson had breakfast at Rio Court with Maintenance of Way (MOW) employees from the overnight shift. During the 5 a.m. visit, Johnson thanked employees for their hard work over the past few months to support RTD’s planned and unplanned maintenance and reconstruction projects. Johnson was joined at the early morning visit by Dave Jensen, Assistant General Manager of Rail Operations, and Stuart Summers, Chief Communications and Engagement Officer.

Later that same day, Johnson and the members of RTD’s Leadership Team had lunch with MOW employees from the remaining shifts. During both visits to Rio Court, Johnson expressed gratitude to MOW staff on behalf of all other agency employees and RTD’s customers. The visits aligned with news of RTD’s ahead-of-schedule completion of both the Coping Panels Project and Phase One of the Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project. Additionally, Johnson thanked staff for their hard work and continued support of preventative maintenance efforts along the D, E, H and R lines that have resulted in speed restrictions.

September's Operator of the Month is Dambar Shrestha from the Platte Division! Shrestha was chosen for his actions to prevent his bus from running over a customer who attempted to board while the vehicle was moving and fell under the bus. His quick reaction time and attention to his surroundings allowed him to stop the bus instantly, preventing the rear tires from hitting the individual. The customer sustained minor injuries from the fall, but thanks to Shrestha, she is alive.
