2024-2025 Aspiring Principal Program

 

APS' Aspiring Principal Program is designed for internal leaders who wish to pursue a position as principal in Atlanta Public Schools within the next year. 


Members of the Aspiring Principal Program will participate in hands-on learning experiences that will enable them to utilize Atlanta Public Schools' Definition of Leadership Excellence in order to achieve student success, engage families and the community, develop other leaders, and manage systems, operations and resources within Atlanta Public Schools.

Employee of the Week

 

James Harden is a Fleet Maintenance Mechanic with the Transportation Department, Fleet Maintenance section. Fleet Mechanics perform the unheralded work of making sure that APS buses are safe for our students to ride. Mr. Harden works first shift at the Metropolitan Parking Center and has been with APS since November 2020. Mr. Harden is a consummate worker, showing a big smile as he goes about his work of repairing APS school buses.  

  

James is often seen working meticulously with wiring schematics for school buses carefully tracing complex electrical problems. This month, Mr. Harden logged 225 production hours repairing wheelchair lifts, exhaust systems and after-treatment along with electrical work. He is cheerful in all weather and work conditions, exhibits great customer services and works diligently.

 

APS is comprised of thousands of employees who each contribute to the success of our great district. Each week, we will feature an APS employee and tell you a little about what they do. Let's get to know each other and celebrate our colleagues!

Year of the Youth


The winners of the Level Up Minecraft Student Build Challenge were recognized by Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens during his Year of the Youth address! The students used the popular game Minecraft to virtually craft their solutions for different parts of Atlanta.

Contribute to Care Packages for Random Act of Kindness Week

 

Remember to spread joy and kindness in celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Week by helping us create care packages for those in need. From January 8, 2024 through February 9, 2024, CLL employees on each floor are invited to contribute specific items:


1st + 2nd Floor: Bottled Water

3rd + 4th Floor: Gloves or Hand Warmers

5th + 6th Floor: Granola Bars

7th + 8th Floor: Socks


You can drop off your donations at the designated care bins near the elevators. Join the excitement and let kindness shine!

The School Zone Speed Safety Camera Program is active and issuing tickets to anyone who travels more than 10 mph over the speed limit at these 10 APS school locations. Remember to slow down in school zones and be safe.
