Grant Expands The WorkPlace's Re-Entry Services |
The WorkPlace has been awarded $2.5 million from the U.S. Department of Labor to support justice-involved individuals and connect them with the skills they need to secure and maintain long-lasting careers. This funding will enable the Platform to Employment Re-Entry (P2ER) program to serve more people and offer new training opportunities and services.
In partnership with the Department of Corrections (DOC), training will begin by offering intensive workforce development and training at DOC facilities. Pre-release services include needs assessment, individual development plans, career exploration and planning, job preparation, and referral to other social services to help people transition back to their communities.
Following release, programming will include expanded access to digital and virtual service delivery through webinars and remote classrooms. Participants will have access to simulated occupational skills training via virtual reality headsets loaded with occupational courses in various careers. Following training, participants have a chance to earn employer-recognized credentials including OSHA-10, CNA, Comp TIA and SERV Safe Food Handler. This approach will help participants gain direct work experience pre-release and prepare them for careers post-release. For more information visit our website.
