OTA Taxation Changes | Connect With Us if You Are Facing Challenges
As announced in British Columbia’s Budget 2022 on February 22, 2022, as of July 1, 2022, certain marketplace facilitators must now charge and collect provincial sales tax (PST) and the municipal and regional district tax (MRDT) on taxable sales and leases that they facilitate through an online travel agency (OTA). We understand that some of you may be experiencing difficulty with this recent change and are in continued conversation with government to resolve these challenges.

We encourage you to reach out to Michael Macleod at mike@bcha.com outlining any challenges you may be facing. We look forward to bringing these conversations to the Ministry to resolve these challenges.
Hospitality Insurance Program
Evolves to PSIP Structure
The Hospitality Insurance program offers BCHA members industry-specific coverage and access to a unique and creative structure aiming to change how members acquire insurance, from purchasers to partial owners of their insurance program.

The HIP program is designed for the hospitality industry across Canada and for over 15
years, the program has recently changed how members acquire insurance, from purchasers to
partial owners of their insurance program; this structure is known as "Protected Self-Insurance".

Here's to Housekeepers! Happy Housekeeping Week | Sept. 11-17

This week, we are celebrating the incredible contribution of housekeepers across the world! International Housekeepers and Environmental Services Week is dedicated to recognizing the efforts of hard-working custodial staff members. During the global pandemic, we have seen these unsung heroes on the front lines to keep facilities clean and safe for those who work, visit, live and play there.

We encourage you to celebrate with us by recognizing your company’s cleaning and EVS staff. Post your appreciation on your personal and company social media channels or do as Microtel Kitimat (pictured above) did and have an employee appreciation day!
