HAC | Action-Needed 2
Minute Labour Survey
The Government has acknowledged that the labour crisis is a major barrier to the recovery of the economy. The federal Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) program has been identified as one possible vehicle that has the potential to open up sizeable access to foreign workers.
We were delighted to see the Government respond to recommendations with their recently announced changes which made the program more accessible, however we are hearing that applications are still stuck in processing.
In advance of a meeting with key government officials next week, the Hotel Association of Canada needs you to complete a 2 minute survey so we can determine if these changes are having the intended impact in this urgent environment. We will also use this data in our media work.
Please note, the survey will close on May 26th, at 5 PM.

Industry Mourns Loss of Quaaout Lodge | Uplifted by Intention to Rebuild
On May 22, the entire guest wing at Quaaout Lodge was destroyed in a fire. This was a truly dreadful incident and a tremendous loss for the entire Shuswap community. Thankfully, there were no fatalities or serious injuries but it remains a truly traumatic event for all involved.
The Quaaout team has demonstrated tremendous strength and bravery as they heroically ensured the safety of all guests and staff. While we are deeply saddened by the magnitude of this loss, we are comforted that Little Shuswap Lake Band Kúkpi7 (Chief) James Tomma has stated intent to rebuild. Once again, we extend our deepest sympathies to the entire Quaaout team and look forward to communicating ways our industry can support the team.

TK Shares Tips for Working with Travel Media, Influencers, and Content Creators
There are numerous ways you can spread the word about your business and its offerings, including working with travel media, influencers, and content creators. Determining what type of creator to work with depends on several factors including your goals, budget, and resources. Understanding the difference between the types of creators and what they offer, and if it aligns with your goals, will help you decide if they are the right advertising/marketing option for your business.
Tourism Kelowna has compiled a guide on navigating this space.
As part of our continued commitment to sustainability, we share yet another "tip of the week" as part of our GoGreen program. Did you know BCHA members are eligible to receive a complimentary energy audit to help identify energy efficiency opportunities and cost-savings?

British Columbians Can Access
More in EV Charger Rebates
The Province and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) are making it more affordable for people to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in their homes, businesses and communities.
BC residents, businesses and municipalities can receive higher rebates for EV charging stations through the CleanBC Go Electric EV Charger Rebate and Fleets programs. For a limited time, funding will cover as much as 75% of eligible purchase and installation costs for EV charging stations, which is an increase from the previous 50% coverage. CleanBC supports government’s commitment to climate action to meet BC’s emission targets and build a cleaner, stronger economy.
