New Report | Harassment, Violence
Pervasive in Canadian Workplaces - Take Safer Spaces Training Today!
According to a new report from Western University shared by go2HR, harassment and violence remain critical issues in Canadian workplaces. The report highlights that 4% of the 4,878 survey respondents experienced at least one form of harassment and violence or sexual harassment and violence, in the past two years, along with additional statics and information.

SAFER SPACES
  • In recognizing this critical issue, a team of experts convened by go2HR, developed Safer Spaces: a free online course that supports employers and supervisors in creating workplaces that are free from sexual harassment.
  • The project team is united by a commitment to reduce the stigma around workplace sexual harassment and a desire to champion the topic as an integral element of workplace education and training.

We are delighted to share that each of our BCHA team members have received a certificate of completion for the training. We encourage our hospitality community to take this important training and commend our partners at go2HR for creating such a critical tool and phenomenal resource!

New Pavilion in Bamfield Celebrates
Local History & Culture
With significant upgrades coming for the road out to Bamfield, the community is preparing to welcome more guests and to increase the benefits of tourism locally. Residents and visitors have long expressed the absence of a covered, accessible space. A unique partnership was developed to fix this issue.

Bamfield Community Affairs, 4VI (formerly Tourism Vancouver Island), the Regional District and The University of British Columbia Architecture Program collaborated to design, fund and construct a one-of-a-kind structure that will revitalize an underutilized waterfront public park and create a covered space for visitor use and community gatherings. This project is well-underway and is an excellent example for how tourism development can bring direct benefits to local residents.

Tourism Development in VCM | StrongerBC Investment
As part of the Province’s Targeted Regional Tourism Development Initiative, new wayfinding signage will highlight three visitor experiences including: Pemberton Farm Tour (a self-guided driving tour), Slow Food Cycle (a one-day, annual cycling event celebrating local food, farmers, and the joys of biking along Pemberton Meadows Road), and the Range Beyond Range Circular Route (a scenic 290 km off-road driving route connecting Pemberton, Lillooet, and the Bridge River Valley). In addition to raising awareness of agri-tourism experiences in this part of the region, this project also aims to strengthen community connections.

Tourism Pemberton is leading this initiative which was identified in the Sea to Sky Corridor Destination Development Strategy as a priority.
