Showcase Your Travel Package on Destination Canada Portal
Last year, Destination Canada launched a travel packages portal, where tour operators can upload travel packages to the DC consumer website. The portal provides tour operators access to an engaged audience, which has resulted in conversions and bookings to destinations across the country. Since its launch in June 2021, the website has received more than 2.6M page views and generated over 230k leads to tour operators. Today, there is a portal available for US market as well.

If you have a travel package that you would like to share with domestic and US travellers, contact traveltrade@destinationcanada.com.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is gradually resuming border services at select airports affected by the temporary measures put in place as a result of COVID-19.
The CBSA will resume services at 47 small airports on May 2 and May 15th, 2022.

Did you miss the Seat at the Table webinar? The recording is out now! Delivered on May 5th, Joanna Jagger, president of WORTH Association, examined why women aren't dominating in a female dominated industry and how we can work collectively to ensure more women take a seat at the table.

As the industry faces the most problematic labour shortage ever, this webinar encourages attendees to examine recovery through a gender based lens and calls on the industry to retain and develop women of recreation, tourism, and hospitality. Watch the recording now!

Reminder | BC Tourism Emergency Management Framework
Last week, a collaborative Tourism Emergency Management Committee (TEMC) released a new BC Tourism Emergency Management Framework to help reduce the industry’s vulnerabilities and risks, and lessen the potentially adverse impacts to visitor experiences during emergencies.

The BC Tourism Emergency Management Framework provides a unified structure to support tourism partners and visitors on matters related to the four pillars of emergency management, namely mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.

Tipping Our Hat to Industry
4VI Officially Marks Major Milestone with Biosphere Certification

The BCHA celebrates 4VI (formerly Tourism Vancouver Island) for achieving the Responsible Tourism Institute’s Biosphere certification, which marks the region as being a sustainable global destination, meeting 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations in areas that include climate change, environment, social, economy and culture.

4VI joins a select group of close to 50 destinations worldwide to earn Biosphere certification, including only four organizations in Canada – all of which are located in British Columbia – Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association, Kootenay Rockies Tourism Association and Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association. Along with Northern BC Tourism Association, these five organizations operate under a partnership called the BC Regional Tourism Secretariat (BCRTS) and signed their commitment to pursue Biosphere certification together on Earth Day 2021.

Biosphere certification is the first program of global significance 4VI has achieved for Vancouver Island since its industry-leading transition from a destination management organization to a social enterprise.

We commend our destination marketing destinations across BC for raising the bar for all of us with a tireless dedication and commitment toward sustainability!
Celebrating Nancy Cameron as she Announces Retirement

The BCHA recognizes and celebrates industry leader and Executive Director of Tourism Tofino, Nancy Cameron, upon the announcement of her retirement. She will officially be stepping down from her position June 30th.

"Most of my working life has been spent in tourism including 23 years at destination marketing & management organizations. I count myself very fortunate to have served members and supported the development and management of this sector for so many years and having the opportunity to work for Tofino’s vibrant tourism industry is something I’m particularly grateful for."

We thank Nancy for her tremendous leadership, drive, and efforts to support our tourism industry! You will be greatly missed Nancy.
