BCHA Joins Coalition & Sends Letter to Premier on Min. Wage
|
In partnership with sector associations, the BCHA recently submitted a letter of concern to Premier David Eby, expressing concerns regarding the pending minimum wage increase.
The coalition strongly recommends that the province cap this year’s increase at 3% due to the labour cost increases and that the BC government should also consider implementing minimum wage adjustment support programs that offer small business rebates.

BCHA Board Director, David Andrew MacKenzie, recently traveled to Ottawa to discuss the ongoing workforce shortage at the Hotel Labour Summit. During his visit, he met with the hon. Randy Boissonnault, Federal Minister of Tourism, to discuss potential solutions to this pressing issue. As the Owner and General Manager of Pemberton Valley Lodge, David is well aware of the challenges that hotels face. He emphasized the need for government support in addressing this issue.

Province Extending TESA Authorizations until Dec.31,2024
|
The Province is extending existing temporary expanded service area (TESA) authorizations until Dec. 31, 2024! This is to aid liquor-licensed businesses such as restaurants, bars, breweries and wineries to have more time to make outdoor seating areas permanent as patio season approaches. Businesses that wish to make their current TESA permanent must apply through the Liquor and Cannabis Licensing Portal.
