Advocacy Win! Immigration Policy Changes Announced to Support Recruitment
We are delighted to share that last week, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship (IRCC), Sean Fraser, and the Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, Randy Boissonnault, announced TWO policy changes that will remove some barriers surrounding international recruitment.
Work Permits for TFW Family Members
International Experience Canada Program boosted by 20%

A 20% increase in the number of applicants eligible for the International Experience Canada (IEC) program was also announced.
- Our members will now have access to nearly 90,000 candidates to help fill labour gap.
- The IEC Program allows youth from Canada’s partner countries to work and travel in Canada for up to 2 years and includes the Working Holiday, International Co-op, and Young Professionals categories. Applicants will be able to apply as of January 9, 2023.

Hire youth next summer! Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) provides wage subsidies to employers for not-for-profits, the public and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years.
The CSJ 2023 employer application period is now open until January 12, 2023, at 11:59am PST.

Congratulations to Basit Chaudhry, who has been appointed to the position of controller at True Key Hotels & Resorts Ltd., becoming the company's principal accounting officer. A well-respected leader, Basit has held many notable positions, including director of finance and IT support at the Hyatt Regency Calgary, and director of finance and business support at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, among other roles.
