Minimum Wage Increases to $16.75 Per Hour on June 1 |
Last week, the Honorable Harry Bains, Minister of Labour, announced that B.C. minimum wage will increase on June 1 from $15.65 to $16.75 per hour. With the increase B.C. will have the second highest minimum wage in Canada after Yukon at $16.77. Since 2015, the minimum wage has increased 60.2%.

Funding Announced to Support Economic Development in Rural BC |
The Province has announced plans to introduce legislative amendments this fall to provide $30 million to three of BC's economic trusts - the Island Coastal Economic Trust, the Northern Development Initiative Trust, and the Economic Trust of the Southern Interior. Each trust will receive $10 million to invest in their respective regions, helping to support new infrastructure, enhance small business opportunities, and promote Indigenous economic development.

At least 300 visits expected as B.C.'s 2023 cruise ship season
Cruise ship season officially launches in British Columbia as the Sapphire Princess berths in Victoria for a one-day visit. The vessel then travels to Vancouver to begin that city's season. The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority expects 330 ships between April and October, bringing at least 850,000 passengers to the capital.
