Summer Internship Program Commences with a Bang
The Partnership's Summer Internship (PSI) Program is back for 2024, bringing together passionate students from around the world to work on real-world challenges in Georgia and the Southeast. The 2024 program kicked off with an inspiring ceremony featuring speakers including Justice Verda Colvin. With 80 interns from diverse backgrounds tackling 41 projects across 19 communities, PSI promises another year of innovative collaboration among interns for an impactful summer.

Columbus SMART 20 Award
The Columbus Consolidated Government's Digital Twin River Safety Project, a recipient of our Community Research Grant, which was recently honored with the prestigious SMART 20 award! Katie O'Connor, Community Research Manager, and Georgia Tech researchers from the Columbus team were on hand to accept the award at the Smart Cities Connect conference in Raleigh, North Carolina. Congratulations to Columbus on this well-deserved achievement!

Inclusive Tech-Based Economic Development Roundtable
New Growth Innovation Network recently hosted an Inclusive Tech-Based Economic Development Roundtable at its first ever CityScapes Summit in Durham, North Carolina, bringing together leaders from organizations across the country working to advance equity in tech and innovation-driven economic development. Jamal Lewis, Economic Opportunity Manager, was invited to contribute to the important dialogue that will be used to shape more inclusive practices in the field.

CAT Pilots EV Smart Shuttles
The Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT), our Community Research Grant winner, are piloting a new microtransit system. Riders in the new East Savannah Zone can now use their smartphones to request an on-demand electric shuttle which uses dynamically routed vehicles for more adaptive and efficient trips. Congratulations to CAT and to the Socially Aware Mobility Lab at Georgia Tech for their groundbreaking work!

Refreshing Research
The City of Statesboro, our Community Research Grant winner, recently held their site visit for their project on improving indoor air quality, which explores how plants may improve air quality in the workplace. Their initial research findings support their hypothesis! Purbasha Biswas, a doctoral student involved in the research, presented these findings at the 94th Georgia Public Health Association Annual Meeting.
