Advisory updates and other information to encourage safe recreation

Lacamas Lake and Vancouver Lake have WARNING advisories in effect due to elevated levels of toxins from algae. An earlier version of this newsletter stated no advisory at Lacamas Lake.

There are no current advisories at these lakes. To report a suspected harmful algal bloom or other water quality concern, go here.

WARNING ADVISORY

  • Vancouver Lake
  • Lacamas Lake


A beach warning has been issued due to high levels of toxins from algae.

  • Swimming and wading not advised especially for young children.  
  • When fishing, clean fish well and wash hands and equipment after.  
  • If coming into contact with water; rinse off before and after. 
  • Know where the bathrooms and changing stations are located.

Safe Swimming Tips


  1. The right swim clothes: life jackets, sunscreen, swim suit, and swim shoes
  2. Stay aware: keep an eye on children when they are in and outside the water
  3. Check the weather: plan ahead and get out of the water during lightning storms.
  4. The unknown: always enter water feet first. When in doubt stay out!
