Some days I am consumed by what weighs me down in daily life. I cannot see the forest for the trees, because I am so consumed with myself, really to the point where I am self-absorbed and I forget the physical and spiritual presence of my neighbor beside me. I then remember the fullness of the body of Christ, who have let their prayers rise up like incense, holding me in a sacred space in the midst of being consumed. Because of those prayers and the community that raises them up, the Epiphany continues to be revealed. Every person here is created in the image of God and is a creative and unique epiphany of how God works in the world. Through God's creativity working through us and through our intercessions, the Holy Spirit says, "I've got you. You are part of the body of Christ, and there are members of the body who are supporting you."
What I love about the Epiphany of our lives of following Christ is the opportunity to see God in our neighbor. That is just how creative God can be: that in wonder and amazement, we can turn to our neighbor and see the image of God in one another. This is God revealing to us that God is relational. God loves us and cares for us and wants to be with us.
Sometimes we cannot see the forest for the trees. How wonderful that God created each of us in God's image to reveal God's presence in the world in a new, different, and creative way. How has God revealed God's self to you in this Epiphany?
