TAPS Earns Sustainability Award

This week, UF and the Department of Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) were recognized at the 2023 IPMI Parking & Mobility Conference & Expo for achieving a Silver Parksmart Certification for Parking Garage 14.

Parksmart is the world's only certification program that defines, measures, and recognizes high-performing, sustainable garages.

Parking Garage 14 replaced the commuter surface parking lot on Gale Lemerand Drive. The parking structure includes many amenities that support various modes of transportation, including bicycle, bus, scooter, walking, and rideshare. Most unique to UF is the dynamic signage and space detection parking guidance system to quickly navigate drivers to available parking.

Kudos to the Physical Security team for their work on a secure-in-place project they are piloting in academic halls this summer. In an emergency, this will allow those inside a classroom to secure their space.

"I am excited and enthusiastic about this safety mechanism, and want to ensure that the project is supported by the end users to the greatest extent possible." Dr. Erica L. Studer-Byrnes

If you know of staff members who are going above and beyond, please email businessaffairs@ufl.edu describing their effort.
