Hanoi government releases 3 detained activists  

(RFA & DPA) On March 24, Jennifer Truong was 3 Viet Tan members released after detentionreleased, following 10 days of detention by the Vietnamese communist authorities. She was detained on March 14, during a peaceful demonstration in Saigon against government corruption. She joined Nguyen Ly Trong and Nguyen Quang Khanh to freedom; both were released on March 21st and 23rd, respectively.  

 

However, even with the release of these three activists, other Viet Tan members and land rights activists are still imprisoned for advocating for aggrieved citizens.

U.S. Congressmen urge Vietnamese Prime Minister to release land rights activists  Members of Congress

With the release of three Viet Tan activists this week, Representatives Dana Rohrabacher (CA-46th) and Ed Royce (CA-40th) sent a letter to the Vietnamese premier, urging for the release of land rights activists still imprisoned in Vietnam. Specifically, they called for the release of Tran Thi Thuy, Nguyen Thanh Tam, and Pastor Duong Kim Khai, who have been detained in Ben Tre since July 2010.
