1% For Nature awards PHLT
grant for bike repair station
|
|
Cyclists, rejoice! Pocono Heritage Land Trust is the proud recipient of a
1% For Nature
grant that will bring a bike repair station to Hickory Valley Road.
PHLT's Pomeroy McMichaels Creek Nature Preserve is bisected by Hickory Valley Road, a popular biking route that appeals to local and traveling cyclists alike. Hickory Valley Road is a part of Stroud Greenway Bike Route, and facilitates a connection to Pennsylvania Bike Route V that traverses the beautiful Cherry Valley and Delaware Water Gap.
Inspired by the bike repair station on Route 611 in Delaware Water Gap, creating this amenity for bike riders made sense as an addition to the Pomeroy Preserve. PHLT is currently working with Hamilton Township to create public parking, a mowed walking trail, and down the line, kayak access on the McMichaels Creek.
This was 1% For Nature's inaugural grant round, funded by a multitude of local businesses who have collected donations from customers and clients in support of conservation and recreation opportunities in Monroe County. To support the businesses who are supporting
the conservation and public enjoyment of wildlife habitat, trails, streams and parks in Monroe County, Pennsylvania,

We look forward to welcoming cyclists and their friends and families to enjoy a stop at the Pomeroy Preserve, to inflate their tires, and maybe bird watch and cool off by the creek while they are there.
