PROGRESS REPORT ON WALTER FRENCH
As a new chapter unfolds at the historic Walter French building, we're witnessing the progression of restoring this Lansing landmark each day. Sunlight now streams through the newly installed windows that are now going in on the main floor.

Pictured above: Looking down on the window installation crew as they prepare to put new windows in place along the second floor of Walter French.
|
Inside, the classrooms are gradually transforming into new apartments, outlined with new drywall hung each day. This marks a significant milestone in the restoration process after a long winter season of placing new plumbing, electrical, and ventilation systems throughout the building.
| |
Pictured above: New drywall is hung within the old classrooms on the third floor, while the new windows allow ample natural light to pour into what will become an apartment.
|
Soon, the skilled hands of the building crew will begin to prime and paint the new walls before installing kitchen and bathroom cabinets.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates on Walter French as we continue through the revitalization process!

MORE TURN-KEY HOMEOWNERSHIP
OPPORTUNITIES COMING TO LANSING
| |
|
Nestled along Glenburne Boulevard in the Lansing-Eaton Neighborhood, construction officially kicked off for our four new affordable single-family homes! The occasion was celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony alongside neighbors and housing advocates on Monday morning.
Since 2019, Capital Area Housing Partnership has delivered critical investments to construct 16 single-family homes in Lansing. These developments have been made possible through a diverse mix of grant funding and generous charitable donations from the community, which have played a significant role in making this initiative a reality.

|
We were pleased to be joined by Mayor Schor, State Representative Angela Witwer, and Eaton County Treasurer Bob Robinson, who each echoed the vital role housing investments create in nurturing stronger communities and vibrant neighborhoods.
Each home, designed to meet high energy-efficiency standards, will offer two to three bedrooms and modern amenities such as an open layout and stainless-steel appliances. The construction is set to be completed this fall, and each home will be paired with down payment assistance to help eligible first-time homebuyers bridge financial gaps.
Prospective homebuyers interested in a home by Capital Area Housing Partnership may learn more about eligibility and requirements on our website.
Your neighbor,
Emma Henry
