In Uncertain Times, the Y is Still Here

For more than 130 years, the YMCA of Pawtucket has continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of the communities in Northern Rhode Island. Today, our community is facing unprecedented challenges. Though our doors may be closed, we are still working to meet the needs of our friends and neighbors during these uncertain times.

That’s why we’re asking our members to stay with us. We are working with the RI Food Bank and Sodexo to provide hundreds of healthy meals and snacks to children daily. We are also creating pathways to continue to engage our senior population. Our seniors, many of whom live alone, are feeling isolated and vulnerable right now, and we are committed to helping them feel connected and safe. We are calling our senior members daily to check in and are providing meals and other household necessities to those who cannot leave their homes. We are also providing resources for parents needing assistance with distance learning.

This work is essential to our community, and the Y is in a unique position to provide these services. But we cannot continue this critical mission without support. If you are a Y member and are able, please consider continuing your membership with us as a charitable donation. However, we understand that for personal reasons, you may elect or need to have your membership dues paused. Whichever is the case, we ask that you let us know by writing to your branch membership director via email or mail:

We would also like to remind members that our staff has been working hard to provide as many virtual services as possible. Our personal trainers and group exercise instructors are offering online classes, our counselors and teachers are hosting storytime and fun projects, and we are pleased to offer virtual classes and programs that can be accessed from the comfort of your home.

We thank you for your understanding and patience and we wish you and your loved ones continued good health.
