SISD Marks 100 Days of School

Outstanding Bearcat Educators Recognized

Elementary Teacher of the Month

The Elementary Teacher of the Month is Joel Mancini, music teacher at Fairview Elementary School. Joel is an engaging teacher and does a great job relating to students. Joel makes sure that students take pride in their grade level music performances, and he has raised the bar for what is expected from students. He goes above and beyond each chance he gets and creates a fun environment for staff and students daily.

Secondary Teacher of the Month

Heidi Scheibmeir, choir teacher at Sherman High School, is the Secondary Teacher of the Month. Heidi has grown and developed the Sherman High choir into a competitive and successful program. She has developed students to compete at high levels and several students are potential scholarship winners to pursue choir in college. She also leads the non-profit Children's Chorus of Greater North Texas and was recognized for her community leadership by the Sherman Chamber of Commerce.

Employee of the Month

The Employee of the Month is Lisa Hill, Deaf Ed Interpreter at Fred Douglass Early Childhood Center. Lisa works with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students equipping them to excel even in Pre-K. She does her job with excellence and creativity. She is a quality interpreter and a vital teaching partner. At Fred Douglass, she helps with family engagement activities, preparing materials and making ASL videos so that students can participate with their families.

Volunteer of the Month

Blake Utter was recognized as the Volunteer of the Month for his work at Jefferson Learning Center. For over a decade, Blake has supported the staff and students of Jefferson. Blake attends Jefferson’s monthly celebration where he provides and presents new seniors with their sought-after senior shirt and Jefferson’s Student of the Month with their recognition plaque. Students work hard to achieve this senior status and can't wait to be called up and presented their senior shirt by Blake. If there is a need to fill at Jefferson, Blake never hesitates to fill it, and everyone there is so thankful for him.

Register to Vote in the 2024 Elections!

The upcoming 2024 elections will be vital in determining the future of public education in Texas. Raises for teachers and increased funding for safety and security failed in the Legislature last year, and the battle over school vouchers is expected to continue.

Making a difference starts with voting, so be sure to register to vote in the March 5 primary! In Texas, primary elections usually determine who represents us in Austin. There are contested races on the ballot representing the Sherman area in both the Texas House and Senate.

Get informed about the candidates and make a plan to vote! The deadline to register is February 5, and early voting starts February 20. In Texas, anyone can vote in either the Democrat or Republican primary regardless of how you have voted in the past, or how you intend to vote in November’s general election.

Grayson County residents can look at sample ballots and polling locations and times on the Grayson County Elections Administration website

Branding Resources Available For SISD Staff

Ever wonder if you are using the correct district logo or colors? Whether you have the updated SISD letterhead or PowerPoint presentation?

To ensure the Sherman ISD brand is consistent across the district, the Communications Department has made a brand toolkit at www.shermanisd.net/internalresources available to Sherman ISD staff. Inside you’ll find updated campus and district logos, photos taken and used by the Communications team, document templates and more. Templates are also built-in inside Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Forms as well, so be sure to look for them in the template gallery when creating a new document! If you need to double check district colors, you can go to www.shermanisd.net/logos to find color information alongside some of our logos!

Did You Know?: Getting A Referral

Can Be Simple!

Your primary care provider gets to know you and your medical history and can take care of a range of chronic issues. However, sometimes a medical issue requires the attention of a specialist, and knowing how your care provider handles referrals is important to your healthcare!

Community Connection: Texoma Family Shelter

Sherman ISD encourages employees to get involved and connected in the community.

Texoma Family Shelter

Texoma Family Shelter is the only non-profit homeless shelter in Grayson County. Their operating expenses are paid from donations, grants and revenue generated from their Texoma Family Thrift store. You can help by making a financial contribution, donating items to the Family Thrift store, volunteering at the thrift store, teaching the residents a class, and adopting a room. If you are interested in getting involved, please call 903-465-6041.
