Enrollment for Supplemental Benefits

Open Now

Open enrollment for supplemental insurance benefits for the 2024-25 school year runs now through Friday, May 31. The open enrollment period allows you to review, change or continue benefit elections every year.


Employees may elect to enroll online or with the help of a representative from our benefits carrier. Representatives will be available on the following dates and locations:


May 16 - DAEP / Maintenance / Transportation

May 16 - Boot Camp / JDC / Perrin / Wakefield

May 17 - Jefferson / Piner

May 28 - Administration / Central Office


Please note that TRS medical elections may be changed during the TRS open enrollment window in July/August and not as part of this open enrollment period. More information about TRS healthcare enrollment and cost will be sent at a later date, after TRS releases that information.

Register for the Bearcat Palooza!

Make plans to join SISD for the Bearcat Palooza learning conference July 16-18 at Sherman High School! There will be sessions covering topics related to PK-12, fine arts, PE, CTE, SPED, bilingual and more, and there will be chances to network with other area educators as Bearcat Palooza will be open to surrounding districts. You can view the complete list of class offerings here.


Keep in mind that summer professional learning hours help you meet annual requirements for professional development. Summer hours will count toward exchange days built into the 2024-25 academic calendar: October 14, February 17 and April 21.

Summer Work Hours Start Week of May 28

Summer hours for the SISD Service Center start Tuesday, May 28 and go through Friday, July 26. Office hours will be 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday with Fridays off.


For the 2024-25 school year, all 226-day employees will have 10 days of flex time.

Childcare Available For Employees Working This Summer

If your summer plans include working or attending professional development, you have the opportunity to take advantage of free childcare for your children! Sherman ISD offers care for children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. The camp offers a variety of enriching activities to keep your child active, and free breakfast and lunch will be provided. Bearcat Day Camp is hosted at Neblett Elementary and runs 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. It starts May 28 and ends August 2. Staff members’ children do not need to attend Sherman ISD to participate and may attend on a daily or weekly basis as needed.

Jessica Dunlap Named

Head Volleyball Coach

Jessica Dunlap has been named as the next head volleyball coach at Sherman High School. Coach Dunlap brings strong leadership skills and a wealth of volleyball knowledge and experience to this position. Dunlap has been with the district since 2017 and has supported the volleyball, softball and soccer programs.

Graduation is Next Week!

The Class of 2024 graduates next week! Gates open at 5 p.m., and tickets are not required for entry. The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. and honor graduates of both Sherman High School and Jefferson Learning Center. It will be livestreamed on the Sherman ISD YouTube channel.


This link shows a map of parking, road closures and shuttles to Bearcat Stadium the day of the ceremony. Once in the stadium, guests will not be able to move back and forth from the home side to the visitor side.


If you are participating in your child’s graduation ceremony, you are requested to attend a graduation practice next Friday, May 24 at 9:30 a.m. Please bring your ID badge to the practice.

Staff Transfer Request Window

Closes Friday

The transfer window to submit requests to another SISD campus will be open in Frontline (TEAMS) Employee Service Center until Friday. Please make sure you notify your supervisor/principal if you are requesting a transfer. Transfers are only approved based on the following:

  1. Need - specifically student, campus, or program/department area need
  2. Agreement between supervisors (both the sending and receiving campus)
  3. Budget impact

Bearcat Football Starts Up on August 30

The Bearcat Football season is slated to open on August 30 with the 126th Battle of the Ax in Denison! Other important dates are:


  • September 27: Homecoming
  • October 11: Band Senior Night and Youth Night
  • October 31: Senior Night

SISD Works Toward Updated Design

for Stadium Project

Sherman ISD is working closely with architect VLK to revise and refine a design for the district’s new multipurpose stadium at Sherman High School. Adjustments needed to be made to an initial working design to keep the cost of the project on target.


Once a design is finalized, the construction project can be bid and an updated timeline for construction set.

One Incumbent, One New Member Elected to Sherman ISD School Board

During the May 4 SISD School Board election, Nathan Cain and Brad Morgan received the most votes for Place 1 and Place 2, respectively.


The results were canvassed by the Board Monday night, and new board officers were elected. They are: Wendy Vellotti as president; Sean Vanderveer as vice president; and Jennifer Shelby as secretary. Outgoing board secretary Adam Cernero was recognized for his service to the district since 2021, and a Legacy Brick will be installed in front of Sherman High School in his honor.
