Learning Intensive: Strategies to Support our DSP Workforce

In-Person Events Across New York State - Register Today!

To New York’s Organizational and DSP Communities:

As part of our ongoing Workforce Engagement and Attraction Technical Assistance Project, the McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research at New York University, in collaboration with the New York Alliance for Inclusion & Innovation (NYAII) and the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), is thrilled to announce five in-person regional Learning Intensives for organizational leaders, management teams, and the workforce.

The Learning Intensive is designed to equip organizations with the tools and insights necessary to attract, engage, and retain a strong Direct Support Professional (DSP) workforce.

The regional Learning Intensive will expand upon ongoing technical assistance themes: workplace culture, supervision, and emotional wellbeing for DSPs.

Organizations are strongly encouraged to attend with teams of staff working in a variety of departments.

We suggest bringing team members working in:

  • Programs (DSP, supervisor, manager, director),
  • Hiring and workplace culture (human resources, training, professional development), and
  • Senior executive leadership (CEO, VP, COO, etc.)

All teams are encouraged to review existing technical assistance resources here, prior to attending.

During the Learning Intensive, organizations’ DSPs, leadership, and management teams will engage in:

Comprehensive Learning: Review and brainstorm best practices and systematic strategies to foster a culture of innovation and inclusivity throughout the organization, empowering every member of your team and staff

Action-Oriented Work: Develop an organization-specific action plan to implement strategies that will better support, engage, and retain the DSP workforce

Cross-Organization Community Building:

Talk with fellow participants and glean insights from other organizations, creating a collaborative community for shared success

Space is Limited, so Register Today!
