Greetings!

The 2nd Virtual Fly Day was a huge success! We had 433 views of the flight video and 390 views of the intro video in just the first hour! Over 300 virtual kits were sent out to kids with special needs in 23 states across the country. 109 of which had never flown with Challenge Air before.

We received dozens of pictures of kids with their Challenge Air shirts and goggles on with huge smiles! You can watch our recap video via the link below.

Thank you to those who donated to help sponsor a co-pilot.

Pease know that these gifts made a difference in the lives of some very special kids.

Meet Co-Pilot Lena
"Thanks so much for allowing my daughter, Lena the opportunity to experience the virtual fly day event. She really enjoyed it.

It was a memorable sight for was a mother.

She had the virtual headset on but she also held onto it as she watched the video.
I could tell which way the plane was moving by her movements. She was going through the actual motions of a real flight. Thanks again for this memorable experience for both my daughter and myself"- Terry H
"Thank you guys so much for putting this on. My little co-pilot is still flying high"- Michael B

Look Who's Back!
Without the scheduling of fly days this past year, a tough decision was made for our program staff (Juliet and Janine) who were furloughed like so many.

However, the good news is that they are both back to work and eager to jump in to get our sweet co-pilots back up on the air.

Please give a warm welcome back to Juliet and Janine.

Pilot Spotlight
Meet Volunteer Pilot, Greg Larson
"I first became involved hearing about CAKF while flying out of the Addison Airport in the mid-90’s. I came by and watched Rick Amber engage with the kids and immediately felt that this is an organization that I want to be a part of.

All of Greg's favorite memories encompass flights and events where he really connected with his co-pilot's. "Watching Tommy & Jimmy Crisp grow up and graduate out of the program was very impactful to me. I typically got to fly with them at one of the North Texas events every year and they each improved their flying skills as each year went by."
Another favorite memory has been flying with Jonathan McGill. "He’s always got his flight suit on at every event and proudly shows all the wings he’s earned following every flight. He’s probably one of the most photogenic co-pilots and his mom (Debby) even made me a book capturing a lot of the great moments up in the air and on the ground. Knowing how impactful these events are for the kids and their caregivers really pushes me to try and fly at every event possible."
Greg took his first flight lesson in 1990 and joined the Challenge Air group in 1998.  You will find Greg flying a Beechcraft Bonanza (A36). He enjoys quick trips to College Station.  Greg and his wife have a daughter at Texas A&M. "Destin FL and Gulf Shores are also great locations that prove out the utility aspect of the plane."
