In Memoriam: Vickie Barnes
It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we share the passing of Vickie Lynn Barnes, wife of Mike Barnes, Area Manager at Walmart Transportation, Mt. Crawford, VA, 2021 Virginia Truck Driver of the Year and Truck Driving Championships winner and Grand Champion.
Vickie, 61, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024. A beloved member of her community, she was known for her kindness, love of family, and active involvement with Weyers Cave United Methodist Church. Her joy for life was reflected in her passion for doll collecting, her love of poetry, and her unwavering support for the New York Yankees. Above all, she was deeply devoted to her family, cherishing her role as a loving wife and mother.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. this Sunday, September 8, 2024, in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery.
Mike’s dedication, leadership, and support for Virginia’s trucking industry, particularly through his work with the Virginia Truck Driving Championships, have been invaluable to our Association. On behalf of our members and staff, we extend our deepest sympathies to Mike, their son Brock, and the entire Barnes family.
